Just because you are a Union member does NOT obstruct you from having a legal representative on your own. Yes, the union does have procedures set in place that our YOUR discrection. If you opt for this, your at the mercy of the pilot representative who was elected by his peers. That means he got the position because he's popular, it does NOT mean he got the position because he has a legal background. This, my friend, is where ALPA is serious flawed. They claim they have "ALPA Legal" which exists at the national level, whom oversee big claims and not the little ones. The little ones are pawned off into "grievances." The grievance process is generally a joke. They take the top grievances and and listen to those only.

Do you want the popular pilot to represent a group of terminated pilots or a law firm that understands aviation regulations, FSDO approved training programs and national/state employment law?

What pilot passes and says it's unfair???? Are you kidding???? Well, good for you, put that on your resume and shout it from the rooftops because every major airline recruiter knows who he is.

It does depend on what kind of day he is having and if he's been flying his helicopter job all night during his rest period and reporting to the checkride fatigued and in a grumpy mood the next morning. THAT IS A PROBLEM. Sucks to be you if thats the case, because, you can do no right. It's over in a matter of minutes and it's, back to bed for him.

Based on what I remember from upgrade training, they don't do much to help the CAs out either. That's the Pinnacle training dept for ya.....

Generally a flow is a guaranteed position, once you have the seniority to hold it (flow up). In this case, all Pinnacle pilots have been promised is an expedited interview, and they have to meet all of Delta's hiring requirements. There is no guarantee of a position at Delta.

What are some of these extreme questions and scenarios these folks are getting? Is it a company check airman, a fed, or a dpe?

As an aside, I did my ATP on my own, in a Seminole, with a DPE a long time back. After the maneuvers, the examiner offered to take the controls while I set up the plates. When I took the controls back and added power, I realized the old buzzard had leaned the mixtures just enough to fail BOTH of them. Some of those old b#st#rds were crazy.

Yet, how come airlines didn't fire some of the pilots who can't speak English worth a darn?

I know there was one FO who failed for not knowing the captain flows verbatim. The problem is, there are no real "flight standards", and your experience varies drastically on the luck of the draw (i.e. what APD you get). Most are basically fair but the questions and areas of knowledge they get into are more that in some cases, you can know by simply studying the CFM/FOM on your day off.
