XJT pool

Ok so let me get this straight;
Don't go to XJT because they treat you bad
Don't go to Mesa as they work under a BK contract
Don't go to Eagle because they are BK
Don't go to AWAC because they don't have a contract beyond 2015
Don't go RAH because, well we all know.
So where is exactly a new hire supposed to go?

It's not so much how poorly you are treated. It's how long you are treated poorly. One thing or another has to give. Either you have crap QOL and pay is to the point where a normal person can pay their bills. Or the pay is crap and your QOL is flexible enough to do something else on the side or at least have a few days during the month to do what you want.
LASA is a place where your pay and QOL are pretty lame for an extra long time. Longer than most regional airlines. It's a unique scenario where the contract heavily weighs on favoring the most senior of the group. So no one leaves. I don't blame them. But if no one leaves, there is no movement into better QOL or pay.
So oddly enough it may be more beneficial to make your first move to a regional with a **** poor contract. You shouldn't plan to stay with the first job you get for the rest of your career. If the contract sucks no one wants to stay and you move off of reserve and into the left seat quicker. Not always the best way to do things but in this day in the industry it may be the new stepping stone way of doing things.

Using the regionals as a stepping stone and going to a place that you can upgrade at quickly because of turnover has always been the smartest way to do things, unless you're trying to make a career out of a regional. 13 years ago I went to a place that I was able to upgrade at 2 years and it was one of those places people didn't want to go because of it's crappy pay and contract.

I've cleaned ****ters, turned wrenches, thrown bags, waited tables and have been shot at in foreign countries...this job is cake walk...but there will be whiners where ever you go. I think I prepared for the worst when I first came here and it really hasn't been bad for me so far. I'm just grateful to have a job I actually like doing and I'm based close to where I live. Good luck to all those in the pool.

Are they still doing the "delta knowledge" test for the interview. It seems how desperate they are for people they would drop that test, they lose alot of qualified people failing on a test that has no true gauge of a pilots flying ability or knowledge
