Favorite go to food to pack in cooler

Oh, and @ 80kts and FlyJSH...
I've delayed numerous flights so that my crew can actually sit down for a decent meal. I've called the CP and flat out said "here's what we're doing and why". The only response I've ever received has been "ok. Sounds good. Just get back out as soon as you can." Heck I've done this just for the FA before when she looked like she was about to faint because she hasn't eaten all day.
FlyJSH - we work for the same company. Not sure why you felt you could never do this...

allrecipes.com is great for ideas. You can type in your desired ingredients and see what you like. Anything marinated with vinegar/lemon juice is good because it helps preserve the meal on the road (3 bean salad comes to mind). I have no problem with a crew member talking about what they pack, I might learn from them. I have noticed that Trader Joe's has a lot of travel friendly foods. Why the animus against folks that bring their own meals/snacks? Agreed, there are many times where the only time you can eat is enroute. Many vendors at the terminals have food that is overpriced/calorically dense/unhealthy. I have personlly gotten sick from Subway at ORD and have heard similar situation at Heidi's in DEN. Eating out is always a risk, perhaps these flight crews that pack a lot of meals just want to avoid food poisoning.

Trader Joe's has great salads when I'm too lazy to pack my own or I want more variety. The only thing to watch out for is the calories so make sure you read the nutritional information carefully and look at the serving size.

Since some of the threads address overall pilot cheapness...I almost always buy my FO's coffee and breakfast. BTW, I'm the lowest paid Captain in this entire forum. I won't buy if the guy is a complete tool. Luckily the tools don't stick around long. Either that or I'm the tool for staying...now I'm confused.

BTW, anybody ever notice that the length of the coffee order is DIRECTLY proportional to the pretentious d-bag level of the person ordering it? Moving on.......
My apologies for listing the first three things that came to my mind. Lets try, burger king, subway, TCBY, Ben and Jerry's, all chinese food restaurants, Chilis, Uno's... again thats their motive, they want to eat out 2-3 meals a day on a 4 day trip, let them have at it. They don't want to it's their choice.
It's called a food trough. And I hate when the people that carry one get in the cockpit first, and leave it between the seats. Then you have to do an obstacle course like trick trying to maneuver the 45lb back injury waiting to happen into the WSCOD's slot. I know, I know, you don't have to worry about carrying a 45lb back injury waiting to happen.

Just because it says chicken at Mc'D doesn't mean is good for you. That is processed, artificially colored and flavored. No thanks! I rather pay a little more and get something of quality. Meaning most of the time you will have to pack your lunch, hence this thread.

Again I DON'T eat it EVERY day, I'm not saying that anybody should. Only that McD's does sell things other than double cheese burgers with fries.
