The Q is a far better aircraft than the baby EMB. Why are they having a hard time filling classes for the Q?

Easy answer, everyone wants the Ejet. SJS.

Pogey Bait 04-15-2013 10:11 AM

What is SJS?

Could anyone answer a few questions for me?
- What's the latest situation regarding hiring for the new American flying at Republic?
- Is it going to be possible for a new hire to hold ORD on either the S5 or RW certificates?
- How long will it be to hold a line?
- Is there much attrition?
- With the extra 47 aircraft coming online, how likely is it that upgrade times are really going to drop?

Appreciate any answers anyone might be able to give?

I'm sure you,ve seen this, but if not, take a look.

RAH Contract NOW! | Teamsters Local 357

The only reason people are going to RAH right now is because they fly the E175. This is evident by the fact that they are struggling to staff the Q400 side.

Don't take the bait. $20,000 commitment for 24 months of poor pay, sub-standard work rules, no cancelation pay etc. There are better options out there.

The for the naive, yes. For those that take a step back and look at the big picture, the Q400 is a maintenance headache, especially when its new to the operator. Given the fact that RAH does not pay for maintenance cancellations, going for the Q may well result in losing out financially when they cancel flights for maintenance reasons.

You shouldn't be choosing a job based on the airplanes they fly. That is the definition of SJS. You choose a job because they have a good contract and pay rate.

I never understood SJS, maybe because I have SDS - Shiny Domicile Syndrome. I chose where I went because of the the ability to live in base and actually have a life OUTSIDE of 121 flying. I dont care what I fly - -145s, -175s, Q400, Merlin, 424, 150, etc.

I know one person that went to RAH because they wanted to live in DEN. They didnt care about Q400 or E175, they just wanted to live in base.
