I don't know why you even have to consider what us blowhards have to say. Can't you pull out a calculator and crunch the numbers yourself? Even if you worked 200 hours/month you're still below the poverty line in a place like Hawaii. I mean, Jesus Tap Dancing Christ, $8/hr is minimum wage in California!!! Are your skills worth $8/hr? I had friends in high school who bagged groceries for more than that! I made more than that bussing tables! Sorry for getting excited, but c'mon people! $8/hr for SINGLE ENGINE turbine time?!?! Maybe if they paid my rent and my bills, bought me groceries and put gas in my car it would be worth it. Anyone who takes that job must be borderline retarded...

Hey,
If you are looking to fly something like a Caravan, check out Tradewind Aviation up in Oxford, CT. You fly half of the year in the NE (warmer months) and the other half of the year you fly down in the Caribbean (w/ your apt and rental car paid for). Base pay is 25K --- better than most regionals your first year. My buddy flies there and loves it.
I talked with a very sweet female in HR and she said that they will begin hiring again in the spring. Keep your eyes peeled on Climbto350.com

does anyone know how it is to be a CAPTAIN at Pac Wings? is the lifestyle/pay/flying any better?

Tradewinds mins for FO's are around 800TT if you know someone, but off the street, typically 1000TT.
My buddy works there and loves it. Pay is better than a lot of regionals. If you are looking for a corporate career, it seems like a nice place to be.

Hi there guys. I happen to work out here in Hawaii side by side the Pacific Wings guys and here's the scoop. They loose Captains well before their 90 day probabtionary period is up reasons.... Well the aircraft are poorly maintained, the schedule sucks and the upper management is a big head scratcher.
Oh and the pay for VFR Capt is 29k and IFR capt I think is around 31k which in Hawaii where milk is 6.00 a gallon is peanuts.
They actually just fired a friend of mine because he refused to fly an aircraft that was near max gross weight into a field that is 1700ft with no working flaps. They take away the captains right to make the go/no go decision. But, hey they hire VFR Captains with 500tt so what do you expect. If you want to know more just ask me.
