Cape Air Interview
#61
Had a UND student taxi us out to the runup pad on his checkride. We use to have to skirt some busted up asphalt and a 6" drop off to get there. At the point we had to turn left to align with the parking spot he slams in right rudder towards the drop off which is only about 12" or less from the right main. I slam the brakes and ask him what he was doing. He said he was testing my instructor intervention skills. I did the taxi back and let him explain his action to the old man. He went straight to 89 and passed. He later was washed out of UPT for failure to adapt to the military during T6 form flight. Not calling UND out. They do have an excellent program. Just every UND grad I've flown with has had this attitude problem.

Back on topic, I interviewed at Cape Air years ago and it consisted of a pilot recruiter giving you a tour of the operation in Hyannis, followed by a sim ride (which I don't think they do anymore) followed by a one on one with the chief pilot.
It's a fantastic company and I would recommend working there to anyone.

As a UND alum, I agree with the chief. UND does breed a level of arrogance that is nauseating, it is instilled early and often that UND is the only way and place to learn how to fly. When the grads go out they fail to realize there are thousands of ways to get into the game.
I have always wanted to go back to career fairs and when students ask how to get into the industry, I respond: "with humility."

Hey guys, I have an interview with Cape in Boston in a few weeks. According the their email the interview seems to be same as described in this thread. First part being an intro the the company, pay, benefits, HR stuff. The second being the face-to-face with one HR rep and a line captain or chief pilot. They did not mention a sim in the email and the interview is at a hotel so I'm guessing no sim.
I'll have an update in a few weeks. I'm interviewing for the FO position. Can't wait!
If anyone has anything more recent let me know.
