+1 for the support at Coradine.

But I'll be switching software soon.

I will definitely be switching logbooks myself. It's an absolute insult to ask for such a high annual fee. The intro rate of 50% is a joke. I could understand maybe $29.99 a year but give me a break. This ****es me off more then AirlineApps charging $60 a year to let me use their crap system to apply for a job without entering all my info every time. I support a boycott of LogTen !!!

I am going through this process with Logbook Pro right now. Not entirely user friendly, as you need to export your old logbook data to a CSV or something similar file and email it to them. They then email back the file type you need to import into MCC. Ill let you know how it goes when I get the file back. On the plus side, they were quick to respond to my email, and they will do this for the standard free version. To sync with mobile it seems you need to buy the enterprise edition ($85 I think,) but at least it is a one time fee with no future expenses. So far I'm impressed with the interface, especially considering it's free.

I haven't read through much of this thread, but I know it's all about loving LogTen Pro and hating the new subscription. I found a couple email addresses, one of which I know that works.

Write the CEO at
[email protected]

and write the COO at
[email protected]

The more we write and show the distaste we have for the new subscription, hopefully the more inclined they will be to change it. I know I'll be switching logbooks BACK to logbook pro if it doesn't change.

The insanity that if you upgrade to the new subscription method, you give control of your logbook to LTP. It would be one thing if, at anytime, you decided to no longer pay for the subscription, you would not receive any more updates but still be able to log flights. But for them to lock you out if you stop paying, its extortion.

What will stop them from raising the annual fee year after year? Extorting people for $200+ a year because they know their logbook can't be used if they stop paying. Who is to say they don't start preventing any user form exporting their logbook info to another company down the road?

By signing up for the new subscription, you are giving them the keys to your logbook for life.

I do not have an issue paying a very small monthly fee to update existing software that I own, to continue to support it. I understand that is where the market is heading. But to now offer for free what we all paid $150+ for, and then a monthly charge on top of that, while giving control of our logbook to them...no way.

The 50% off first year is a joke too. Slight of hand..."Sign up cheap, look how cheap. Now we have your logbook for your career and you are subject to any cost increases we decide. Don't pay and you can't do anything with your logbook. Maybe we will let you export it or print it"

THIS is from an email from Coradine in 2012:

"We listened, here's what you said.
We conducted a customer feedback survey in early January and we wanted to share the valuable results we received from thousands of your peers.

The majority of pilots felt the initial price was pretty close, but the upgrade price was too high (which was exacerbated by the fact that this was the first time a major new version of LogTen Pro launched for Mac, iPad and iPhone all at the same time).
-- 74% of respondents were in favor of paid upgrades, as opposed to a subscription or in-app purchase model.
-- 80% of you want a universal app so you can run LogTen Pro on both iPhone and iPad with one app.
-- 81% are running Mac OS X Lion
-- 79% have an iPhone 4 or 4S
-- 80% have an iPad (with the majority having an iPad 2).

Thank you for your honest feedback. We always want to consider the customer first when deciding the future direction the company takes.

User's Response:
Really? So what happened to 74% of respondents? What happened to you always wanting to consider the customer first when deciding the future direction the company takes?

You've lost your way and you're losing all of your customers.

You have NO idea how small the aviation community is. You should, but apparently you do not.

I wonder who wrote that???

Seriously, DON'T bother. Noah is all over the Facebook posts vehemently defending his decision and shows NO sign of relenting. He is so smug it is disgusting. I encourage you to check out the LOOOOOOONG String of comments on Coradine's Facebook page (there are two strings going on).

Vote with your wallet (or don't, that is).

Like I said before, the pilot community is a small one. He will see that soon, too.

Just saw this on LogBook Pro's webpage:

Celebrating over 17 years of Logbook Pro Desktop, which is NOT a subscription but a one time purchase (persistent license), all version 1.x updates are free as they have been since initial launch in the mid-1990's we are offering a celebration sale NOW through October 31st at 50% off. Purchase Logbook Pro Desktop or Logbook Pro Desktop version upgrade licenses at 50% off by applying coupon code NOSUB at checkout. Need to move to a new computer? No problem, simply activate your license on the new computer with no frustration at any time. Already a customer from the past? Your license code STILL WORKS - no purchase required. Click here to download and install the latest and continue to enjoy Logbook Pro and also enjoy our iOS, Android, Kindle Fire, and NOOK tablet apps that sync seamlessly.

For Mac users, easily run Logbook Pro Desktop in Windows on Mac OS X just as we do using Boot Camp, VMWare Fusion (what we use), or Parallels Desktop. The new Mac OS that just released yesterday "Yosemite" is supported and it's a great way to simply swipe full screen apps between VMWare Fusion or Paralles and Mac OS X without any reboot required.

Those using other e-Log products can use our Import Wizard to import your CSV or TAB delimited data. We can support just about any e-Log out there and if you can't use the Import Wizard yourself just send us the data file and we'll import it for you FREE as a courtesy for new customers. Check out our info on e-Log conversions here, and click here for info on our Import Wizard.

To get the most out of your software check out our complete documentation and video tutorials as well as YouTube videos here and here.

We are thrilled to bring you the most trusted, reliable, and accurate logbook as well as the most cost effective electronic pilot logbook software ever.

Thank you for being a part of NC Software, Inc.

Sincerely,

Neal Culiner

Sounds like a smart move to me.

However you are still going to pay $70 a year for schedule importer and mobile access. Those are kind of big things for me, ease of use type stuff.
