AWAC to fly for DL???
#401
Anyway, we have people doing 5 or 6 trips now, sometimes more from what I'm hearing. Average 16 segments per 4-day trip and you have over 70 legs.
My training in the US was harder than it was for my non-US carrier. That's all I'll say. It was a large European carrier.
Both have merits and demerits in my opinion but this thread isn't about that. This tangent is also not really a parallel to a non-US carrier because everyone we hire now has an ATP and at least 1500 hour or is one of the rare cases where exceptions are made, having come from an approved flight school.
The fact that people who have ATPs and have worked for several years in the industry and then struggle in the sim and on OE is kind of disconcerting. The APT requirement was supposed to have raised the bar.
That doesn't seem to have been the case.
Anyway, back on topic, this rumor seems to have gone cold.

Recent rumor from schoolhouse is according to TK in Chicago, we are getting 5 50-seat CRJ's a month next year for an undisclosed period. We apparently have already purchased 50'ish CF34-3A1 engines and they can be mixed and matched with the B engines. Current pilot staffing is up ~100 pilots flying the line (not instructors) from what we had in 2010, with more to come.

I will concur that absence of news does not mean death of the rumor. It was already confirmed with the appearance of the maintenance activity online. Latest info is that AWAC mechanics have been making trips to CWA to asses the 9E 200s as they pass through that maintenance base.
I heard more reliable grapevine info today that affirms what was mentioned above about the number of airframes a month.
While we wait on any given Friday for the afternoon news dump...an announcement that we can stand behind without having to say "White House sources on deep background" could come at the latest, by the end of the month.
