I invite you to tell my wife to "take one for the team" and stick it out at a company that is shrinking, I'm commuting, took a big pay cut because of the 4 year FO cap, and I can't hold a line anymore. That would be an amazing conversation I bet. And the fact that she knows I could get a job at a different company that has explosive growth with so many more opportunities would make that conversation even better.

All of this just makes me think of the Comair First Officers that stayed around at shrinking Regional for a decade with no upgrade. You can figure out the rest.

It reminds me of all the street hire captains at XJ that chased the explosive growth. You know where a lot of those people are now? Out of the industry or still chasing upgrades at their third regional.

We've all heard it way to often to ignore it. "It's all about timing in this industry." I've seen numerous people chase quick upgrades, time it right, and be very successful. Others were slightly behind the wave, didn't reap the benefits of PIC, and had to change their game plan. Stay informed and make the best decision for your personal situation. Nobody can tell you what the right move is for you personally.

Take one for the team?
What team? There is no team. When I was in the shell game business, it was us against them (wings west against the other three ) then all of us against them(eagle against AA) then all of that combined group against management then AMR against all the other legacy carriers.
Team? Nah. I'd slit your throat in a New York minute when it comes down to me providing for my family. Good news for me and mine is I'm wealthy now and don't have to play around with groups of liars anymore Just fly over all of it in the 40's whenever I want. You guys need to stop filling these young kids heads with some kind of team effort goin on under cover. Alpa is sure not your team. Mainline isn't your team. Senior guys sitting on their ass at the top of the senoiority list aren't on your team. Other regionals flying your colors and flying your routes aren't on your team. Management is laughing at you all. Do what's best for you and your family and to hell with what anyone says about it. They don't pay your bills or feed your kids. |

No need to take offense to it. I wasn't trying to undermine the hard work anyone has put into their career nor was I trying to take a stab at anyone. It just seems that a lot of people on here are always angry but w.e. I was just giving my .02 best of luck to you.
