I recently got a call from an RAH recruiter, When I asked about the status of the negotiations I was told that is was "almost" done and great things were about to happen as they are renegotiating the entire contract. They were excited to tell me that the 2 year commitment was off the table until the end of February.
Please understand, I'm aware of the kool-aid they were offering, I'm just curious and looking for clarification.

The way they explained it to me was if you took a class before March, there was NO 2 year commitment. There is a sign on bonus dpending on the fleet type you choose, 10k for 145's (with the expectation that you will be back in training in about 1-1.5 years for the 175) and 7.5k for the 175's. pro rated if you leave before 1 year.

I think I agree with you though I asked FL on the committee if he expects a TA outside of 6 months and he thought well within 6 months. The company is scrambling. I won't believe it until we have something to vote on.

I'm still in a very optimistic state of mind here in my young naive pre-airline days, but I can definitely attest to the fact that recruiters will paint a picture rosier than things really are to get you to come work for them. Envoy was touting the fact that they were getting E-175s since late 2013... They're not wrong (now...), but they said things as a very matter a fact that the TA would get passed as each one was presented.
