Class Dates for SkyWest
#42
On Friday, Jan 26, they still said no, so I was starting to think bad thoughts. Then, Sat, Jan 27, they said that they would deliver the package Monday. I asked if it was from Salt Lake. They said, no, it's from St. George, Utah. Bingo !
So, it got delivered Monday, Jan 29.... 11 days after my interview. I just saw it for the first time yesterday.
Class date, Feb 12, CRJ. In the Fedex package is a 60 page "CRJ 200/700/900 Pre-class study packet", with emergency procedures and limitations test. They state in the letter that "YOU WILL BE TESTED ON THE FIRST DAY OF GROUND SCHOOL" for the CRJ-200 stuff, and on the last two days of ground school on the CRJ-700 and -900 stuff. I think you can find this on the skywest web site.
They still want you to bring photocopies and the originals of the usual suspects, but they also have in bold letters, "Original social securtiy card (no exceptions)". I just applied for my replacement card today from the social security office, so I hope my application will suffice for the very short term.
Lodging isn't specified in the letter, but I'd presume Candlewood suites in SLC. I called them (801)359-7500 to confirm my name for Feb 11, and they told me that they don't get the names until the Friday before.
From the skywest web site:
>>>> Ground School for both aircraft will take place at SkyWest's Salt Lake City Training Facility and will last for three weeks. From there, an EMB student can expect to travel to Fresno for about a week of FTD (flight training device). After that is completed, the student will be sent to Long Beach for approximately one week of simulator training. Once that is completed, initial operating experience will be set up and should be completed in approximately ten days to two weeks.
CRJ students can expect the entire training process to be completed in Salt Lake City with the exception of their initial operating experience.
During ground training, the students will be housed at the Candlewood Suites. Double occupancy should be expected. Rooms are all equipped with a kitchenette. The hotel shuttles students to and from the training facility as well as convenient trips to the grocery store throughout the week. <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<
Also, they tell you to wear a white shirt / dark tie for your employee photo, and show up at 8am in the media center room on your first day (Feb 12 for me).
For travel arrangements, email them at [email protected] (yes, you'll have to decode that!)
Finally, there's a "Pilot Information Sheet", basically just asking you to list hours, certificates, and type ratings.
Hope this helps,

Congrats and see you there!

Make sure it's a white button down with a black tie. They will place FO epaulettes on your shoulders and take the picture for your SKW ID. They also want you to self disclose your commercial and total hours for yearly reg adherence.

Transition? Take the upgrade, get your time, and hopefully move on soon...you're already in the bro, might as well.

I could upgrade in the Bro around July, earlier if they waived the 2500TT. The most JR Bro CA (training) is within 25#’s of mine. Plus when you look at the upgrade list and taken into account the email showing SKW class dates; I could upgrade in March or April. But, I don't want to sit reserve seeing that I live in PHX and have a 1 year old girl that I can't stand to be away from. My plan is to transition then after my seat lock is up upgrade back to the Bro. Once back on the Bro I’ll be able to hold a line which means more time at home. After a year I could either transition back to the Jet and hold a line or stay on the Bro.

How's the Comfort Suites? I stayed in the Candlewood for the interview, and for training it's the Comfort Suites. Heard they serve breakfast. Any comments appreciated.
Any dinning tips for that area while in training. I had the lunch truck while at SkyWest and dang that old lady can grill a burger. Thanks in advance.

Comfort Suites is directly north. Across the street to the south is another (fancier) hotel.
