As long as you admit this retention bonus a) isn't a pay raise and b) won't actually retain you, I wouldn't care if it were a check for $26,666.
Good for you on a personal level. I'm sure this money that brings your overall pay back to industry standard helps tremendously for you and your family. But it's not a pay raise, it's a conditional bonus.

Hardly seems possible one would trash talk a 20k annual pay increase. It's not even a conditional bonus. There are no conditions. It's not like we must stay. The only requirement is that we have to work here. It's not even a retention bonus really. Sure that's what it's called but a true one would pay a person upfront with a commitment to stay an allotted timeframe. So if it ain't no pay raise, and it's not a conditional, then it's just $20,000 of annual cash money that whiplash apparently would not accept.

Upgrades will be non existent at envoy and here is why:
1. Are new hires knocking the door at eny? If no, well there is problem
#1.
2. With the Flow to mainline stopping/slowing, there won't be any more upward movement as the C7's leave. See #3.
3. When are the C7 leaving? April? So displacements are inevitable. With No new equipment arriving (175's) till 2016, Jr Ca's are going back to FO.
4. The same 300-400 Top Sr. "lifers" will most probably bid the new and improved (still junk) E175's.
Goodluck!

Time will tell on number one, and there hasn't been enough of it since the deal was inked to conclude anything yet.
I've heard your rationalization on why flow will stop but it has yet to actually happen and my money is on it won't.
The 700s are not slated to leave until June, and it will take a year and a half to lose them all. Many MIA EMJ pilots have begun, or soon will, training on them. I doubt they would do that for zero line time. My money is on them not leaving until August or later. Oh and the 175s start this November. We will have 9 of them this year. Initial cadre set to begin late spring and full training in late summer. It will be a good sized bubble.
There are just over 300 "lifers". I don't know one outside of the training center that would be dumb enough to bid initially for the 175. Why would someone like me do this? I have it awesome on the 145 right now. Obviously you have never been around for new equipment with your statement anyway. Kids (sigh).

Let's say they pay you $5 an hour and you get a "bonus" of $15000 a month, are you going to turn it down based on the fact that you are taking a significant hourly cut?
Money in my pocket.

Where do you get the 9 of them THIS yr? Last I heard they won't come online until spring 2016.
GoodLuck.
