The pay issue is not just an Eagle, Endeavor, Expressjet, Skywest , etc. issue. The pay issue affects all of the regionals. Anyone know what the legalities are regarding all of us standing together in demonstration? Before anyone gets their shorts in a bunch, I'm not talking about a work stoppage but a show of solidarity among the regional carriers. It seems that we all agree that pay is horrible. 19000 voices in unison are hard to ignore.

The public. The media. "Did you know a First Officer at (insert airline) is collecting food stamps?"
The general public is unaware of what's happening at this level of the industry. The first hurdle is to make them aware.

If the airlines tell the public that if they pay us more, their ticket prices will go up, the public will hate us. The attention span of the public is really short, and all they will remember is that the airlines went out and said that the pilots were greedy and that is why their ticket is more money (wether it is true or not).

Sorry, but they don't care. They want their ticket price to be even cheaper than it is now.

As far as the whole "why doesn't ALPA do something?" argument. They're a business and they know who butters their bread. 2% of a widebody captains paycheck is a helluva lot more important than 2% of some regional kids paycheck.

I absolutely have to agree with this statement. The flying public does not care nor will they ever care. Higher paid pilots = higher ticket prices. Besides, didn't ya know pilots only work "part-time" anyways.

I don't think it's really about Jetzzzzzzz.
I think it's more about, I took out a huge amount of money to train for this career. Now I'm finally qualified for the job and what are my options.
I am quite sure that almost any new pilot if given the option of flying a non-jet airplane for $60k/year or a jet airplane for $22K/year, would take the $60k in a heartbeat. Let me know where those jobs are and I'll pass the word along.

The only way to raise regional pay... The only, only way...is if a vast segment of the regional pilot population simply resigns and nobody steps up to apply for those jobs. It's simple supply and demand.
As for a public campaign, the American public is quite content to shop at Walmart, where many employees require food stamps to survive. The average Joe just wants to get to Chicago for the cheapest airfare possible...
