The only reason I disagree is because I'm pretty sure foreign carriers are big on aircraft weight. Not that many of us will go over there. But life is crazy and you never know, so i would just take the extra 2 seconds and seperate it. Hell of a lot easier than searching through thousands of hours for an application.

I would log it separate. The logbook column says make and model, not FAA type. You never know when you would need to break it out for an insurance questionnaire. Dow Chemical operates CRJ-700's.

Default FAA Type Codes

Here is a link to the FAA document, FAA ORDER JO 7340.2D. It shows the official FAA type codes that the FAA would accept in IACRA, for example. On page 425 (5-1-17) you will find the CRJ200 Designator is CRJ2, CRJ700 is CRJ7, and CRJ900 is CRJ9.
