I think that most of them like feeling like they are hot stuff with 4 bars on their shoulders Seriously, I decided to instruct up north and my best friend stayed at ERAU because "the airlines like CFI's that instructed at riddle". I had lunch with him not too long ago down in Daytona and ERAU kool-aid got the best of him. He's got 4 bars on the shoulder and has more attitude than a 777 Captain. He used be modest and overall a great guy but 3 years of instructing at the "Harvard of Aviation" got to him... As far as girls are concerned there is none. It was almost amusing watching girls that received NO attention in High School become the object of desire. Many of them became very popular with the guys We called this "riddle vision"

My humble opinion and advice to the newbies is to get a degree in something other than aviation, and get all of your ratings on the side. What good is that aviation degree going to do you if something happens to you medically later in life? What if you get completely sick of flying all together, what are you going to do?
Do you think the people interviewing you really give a poo that you have an aviation degree?
There are a lot of what if's that could pull you out of the aviation industry, and it would be great to have something to fall back on. I have a degree in Business Management Information Systems with an emphasis on networking and database programming. If I loose an eye ball, I still have a job (Granted a shi*ty one). Did it hurt me in getting hired at an airline? Nope.

He must get something to keep him there for 3 years. Pay/benefits? Some people just get into a comfort zone / rut and stay there wasting years...

Hello
I am 2005 ERAU grad. I drank the Kool-aid just like everyone else that went that poor excuse for a University. My sophomore year I realized that everything about that school is b.s. My parents where helping me out then and they were convinced that I should stay and so I did hoping that maybe I am just a little to negative about the whole experience... I worked every summer and weekends and still managed to owe them $50k. I know it was the biggest mistake I ever made in my life but I am not cocky or arrogant like some people from that place are. So, whenever someone asks me where I went to school, I tell them that I went to school in Florida. Some people try to dig deeper and I tell them the truth... As soon as they hear ERAU they take cheap shots at me, sometimes lasting the entire 4 day trip. I know that some people from Riddle "suck" but I don't go around telling people how great I am, so why do people have the need to make me feel more regretful about attending Riddle than I feel already?

I think it depends on what you are loking for. If your goal is to be an airline pilot and you went ther ethinking it would help you get a job quicker than the next guy then that was probably the wrong reason to go. ERAU is a good university. Its NOT a pilot school like Comair and FlightSafety. Its a college like any other college. Nothing more, nothing less.
Ther eis nothing wrong with a 3000 hour CFI. Some people like teaching and instructing. Everyone isnt trying to sue the rating to go to an airline.
I am seriously thinking of going to ERAU to get a Masters in Aeronautical Science. I want to go into the avition industry. Airline flying would be noce, but I am also interested in Aviation business and I wouldnt mind flight intructing or teachng aviation at a univesity which means I will probably have to get a Ed.D as well, but you gotta do what you gotta do.
The point is ERAU is not a bad school. Its just that some people go there for the wrong reasons and when they dont gwet what they thought they were going to get they get mad.

I went to Riddle several years back, but I left after two semesters. During the end of the first semester I started to realize that it wasn't quite the place I thought it was. I remember during a few different classes hearing the professors say how hard it was to get a job at the airlines, how many hours you needed, and that you should get your dispatch certificate because you probably won't make it the the airlines anyways....
Not the greatest thing in the world to hear as a college freshman looking at the student loans already starting to pile up.
Luckily I finished my ratings elsewhere a few years later and now I'm starting training at Express...
All in all, Riddle was not somewhere I would ever recommend...

Exactly. UND is the cream of the crop! We fly in all weather, and have amazing FTD's and obviously a huge, modern piper fleet. I'm tellin ya, UND is so underrated. I'm suprised that there are so many people that go to these tiny 141 schools, or Riddle of course..
