Sheesh. I'm starting to doubt my research and just give in to the fact I'm naive at 40 years old. And doubt the fact I want into the airline business. (That's not a jab, just thinking in public.)

It's an amazing time to be getting into regionals. Horizon is not at all indicative of the market as a whole. There are amazing opportunities at endeavor, envoy, PSA, peidmont, republic, or skywest.

Opportunities have never been greater. At 40 you can still have a great career, but if I were you I'd do my best to start it at a company that has adjusted to changing circumstances rather that at one that is stubbornly determined to cling to the past. You can do better, unless you can't. That would be the only reason to turn to one of the bottom feeders.

bblake - I'm starting to see that. It's a shame. The one place without "the usual suspects" (****hole domiciles; Detroit, Chicago, anywhere in the northeast) was Horizon.
PDT appears to have a good thing going as a company, no doubt. I'm guessing the single draw to everyone stuck at Horizon was basing options? ("Stuck" in their words - I know nothing.)

Hot off the press:
The Jan 9th class of two new hires is now a class of one. Waited for the 10k check to clear and lost interest in staying.
Jan 23rd class started off with 110k worth of new hires, but I'm sure we've lost a few.
Alaska just responded to our court motion with a nice little gem regarding the pre-employment bonus:
"In response to the IBT’s request for further information about the program, Horizon told the IBT that the pilot candidates would receive a $10,000 lump sum bonus for agreeing to attend Horizon’s initial pilot training; that the bonuses would be paid to the candidates prior to beginning initial training; that there are no employment- related conditions or requirements associated with payment of the bonus; and that the bonus is theirs regardless of whether they complete initial training or ever fly in revenue service for Horizon. Id. ¶¶ 40-41; Lewless Decl. ¶¶ 6-7 & Ex. 2."
That should give anyone who has any concerns, the knowledge that while Horizon may try to "blackball" them in the industry, they need not worry because their services are in great demand in the industry and Alaska has just stated in a filed court document they will not go after them for re-imbursement."
Come and get paid everyone!
