DUI and pilot career?

A truely classic thread this is.. Made me laugh..
Don't forget folks, we have all been there.. I mean behind the wheel when we probably shouldn't have been.. Sometimes it's just badluck meets poor judgement.. Have a had a few friends there, and it was worked out ok for them.. Not UPS Captains, but not at GoJet either.. (still young)
For you wackos preaching about never touching a drink, I wanted to tell you that Saudia is hiring.. You would fit right in the Kingdom..
Cheers, EKBC
PS: Where the hell is the bottle opener?

In my opinion you're not really missing much. I drink on occasion but even that is very rare. Used to drink a lot but it's really nothing great. Why is this even an agrument on here? lol. Who cares if someone doesn't want to drink, let him live.

So, instead of criticizing him for not drinking, you're criticizing him for not drinking? You make a lot of sense.
Another pilot here who chooses not to drink. It's worth it just for the fun with coworkers who think it is their duty to get me drunk.
Here's my position. No one can really tell me any *good* thing that comes from drinking, but there are a LOT of bad things as a pilot that can happen. I don't really care what I'm missing because I've never tried it. I don't know what I'm missing so I don't know to miss it, make sense? I've had plenty of people argue against that, but no one has felt a need to be so superior that they had the gall to say that I was "hamstrung by dogma" for choosing not to drink it. BTW, I also save a LOT of money by not drinking, something that comes in handy at my pay grade...
By your same logic you could say that about anyone who doesn't smoke who never tried it! What is your problem?

Some of my best times have been with a beer in hand with family / friends. Its a good time and unless someone beats the family dog its all good...Hell, just a few weeks ago Slice came over unannounced to ask about getting his FAA tickets at ATP. Being the nice guy I am I gave him a beer and told him all about the programs ATP offers. Before he left he told me he'd rather be a lucky pilot than a skilled one...It made my day...Thank you Mr. Beer for making it happen...

I don't know, ya think so? I was at a 49er game and there was a dude who was well over 30, and he was praying to the porcelain gods right there in the stadium. The amazing thing was, in spite of his active prayer to the gods, he held on to a beer in each hand and didn't spill a drop!
I think he got lost on his way to the Raider game and ended up at the Niner game. I'm sure he was riding that porcelain bus all the way back to Milpitas!

There are quite a few of them in here Wild! For the record, I got 100 on my driving test and 100% on my parallel parking. I challenge any of you dudes to match me on parallel parking a car with a manual transmission on the steepest hill in San Francisco! I will beat all of your asses.
