RAH files for Chapter 11 bankruptcy

Yep. They've kicked the can down the road as far as it's gonna go.
No, it won't. And good luck trying to get Congress to rescind the law.
The 1500 hour rule isn't a FAA regulation. It's federal law. As in, an act of Congress. Not some bureaucratic, whimsical decree.
How people don't understand that is mind-bottling.

For the record, I also hate it when my mind gets all bottled up...whatever that means.

We went through this same deal at Eagle during bankruptcy. Attrition is about to spike off the bottom of the list from all the people with nothing to lose. Recruiting ability is dead for the time being due to uncertainty. It's a snowball effect. People that were comfortable line holding FO's and Ca's start to slide backwards towards reserve because everyone junior below them is bailing out, then at the same time the fleet is shrinking due to shedding aircraft in BK.. stagnation and constantly losing people below you sets in, which makes moral drop and even more mid-junior people bail.. Downgrades and domicile displacements may or may not happen but (they did with the recent Eagle and Pinnacle BK FYI), which even further scares potential new hires away. Bottom line is when Attrition is way up + no recruitment ability + losing aircraft = bad for career progression and any upward movement!
This is why people are saying get out EARLY and don't waste your time stagnating or going backwards for years, we have lived it before. Absolutely nothing good is coming in the next couple years. It will be "at least" 3-4 years before the BK pain starts to subside for the employee's. Look at the history of every airline bankruptcy over the last 20 years and see what those pilots suffered through. It is a common theme with all of them. If it was a Legacy carrier final destination, obviously that is different, sure, there is justification for staying through the pain and waiting for things to turn around. It isn't though. It's just a crap regional and everyone else with better prospects is hiring.

There's more knowledge flowing in the Mesa thread than that Forbes article.

Actually, I'm not sure you understand it. Congress mandated that all airline pilots have ATP licenses. However, the FAA retains control over what experience requirements dictate the issuance of an ATP license. If the FAA decides tomorrow that anyone with 300 hours can have an ATP license....

"(c) FLIGHTHOURS.— (1) NUMBERS OF FLIGHT HOURS.—The total flight hours required by the Administrator under subsection (b)(1) shall be at least 1,500 flight hours. (2) FLIGHT HOURS IN DIFFICULT OPERATIONAL CONDITIONS.— The total flight hours required by the Administrator under subsection (b)(1) shall include sufficient flight hours, as deter-mined by the Administrator, in difficult operational conditions that may be encountered by an air carrier to enable a pilot to operate safely in such conditions. "
That is Congress TELLING the FAA that the required hours "shall be" 1500. The FAA can not change it on the whim of the RAA or anyone else for that matter.
The entire text of the LAW is here.
