I am #71 out of 350! Great seniority right? I am #4 out of 5 at my base, so I'm not and never have been on reserve, but I get the last line! Why don't I go to a junior base so I can get the best line? First of all - last I checked I would still be maybe #2 at most other bases, 2nd -- I'm home every night, and 3rd -- I'm home every night!!

P.S. won't be bidding the Q; will be voting yes
All I can say is wow.

Are Colgan pilots really this thick headed? Or do they intentionally miss the point and the whole seniority thing?

hahaha I guess its just hard to explain, but he is 70 out of 350 that is a great seniority number to have, but you see that he is the 4th guy out of 5 at his base so yes he is senior in the company but very junior at his base you get it? Now if Colgan only had 3 bases chances are #70 in the company would have a great line how you don't understand that is beyond me

I understand what you are saying - that he is #70 in the Company (which is what, top 40% of the Company?) and that he is "senior".

If he wanted to get good lines at his base of choosing he shouldn't of upgraded. He could probably hold it as an FO (my guess) since he is pretty far up the list there. He is trading living in the base he wants/home every night for bidding power. That's how it's done at EVERY seniority based airline.

If Colgan only had three bases would he be able to live at home? What are the chances that the base he is in would be a permanent domicile? Also, if Colgan had regular hub basing (vs. outstation) this guy wouldn't be at home every night.

I want to hold my base of choosing as a CA and be the #1 bidder - but my seniority won't allow it. We must also have some crazy thing known as "seniority" here too.

Yeah I was thinking for CA's, so looks like my estimate was pretty close, but thanks for point that out.

Fosters youre talking about a difference of $25,000/yr. We all would have taken the upgrade.

And how did you get the upgrade? Was it seniority based? My guess is yes .

My point stands - this guy is b!tching because he lived in a senior base, doesn't want to move, and yet wants to also be the top guy there. Well, unless you're #1 in the Company it doesn't work like that anywhere. Colgan isn't the only Company like that.

Durbin wasn't complaining, merely using his situation to explain what Mr. Baroowski was b!tching about.
