Check the APC Silver Airways profile. It's not secret.

The main Silver Airways thread, it's probably dropped to page two here at the Almighty Regional Forum.

Hey guys and gals...I have a weight and balance question for you. Is your jumpseat included in the empty weight of the Saab?

yes, you would be counted when doing the W&B. soo just hope the plane isn't loaded up to much with bags in the back.

So what I'm getting at is that even if you are at max TO weight it doesn't matter if there is a jumpseater or not because the 190lbs is already included in the basic empty weight of the aircraft. Is this how your basic operating empty weight is set up within your Saab fleet? Hope that clears up my question.

Of course not. The ACM is only added if a person is actually occupying the jumpseat. In what airplane can you just throw 190 pounds useful load away? In a 747 maybe? But not in an easily weight restricted Saab.

Northwest pilots negotiated the jumpseat into the BOW weight so that it was always usable even on weight restricted flights. I'm not sure if that was able to be carried over to Delta in the merge or not, but it came in handy on the DC-9 in the summer.

I was saying yes we would have to count him if he wanted to ride. Sorry if my post made it sound like it was included in the BOW.

The Avro 100% of the time, the CRJ-900 99% of the time and apparently you can throw a lot more than that away in a BE-1900 at Great Lakes

Thanks. We missed a flight because of weight and balance and was just making sure I had my ducks in a row before making a big deal about it. As a commuter I rarely miss a flight because of it. I remember once years ago when I was young I missed a Southwest flight out of LAS to PVD. The captain came up and met me at that gate and explained why he couldn't take me and how sorry he was. Nothing he could do. I always remembered this and applied it whenever I had to leave guys behind. This silver captain didn't bother to come up to explain to us why he couldn't fit anymore weight. Thanks again for the input.

I would love to tell you that the folks here at Silver have lots of time on the ground but we just don't. We are always running late and almost never have enough time to do something like that even if we wanted to. We are only just minutes before leaving finishing up the Weight and balance by hand with one engine running about to turn the other. So when we do know, we really don't have time to get out of the plane, walk on the ramp, up the walkway up to the gate then up the gate just to say sorry. The folks behind the desk should say it for us when we call ops to let them know.

I will say this much tho, we never have any problems taking people jump-seating either in the back or up front if we can. Aleast that was how it was when i was working there a few months ago.
