You are correct.

Pilots can be so dumb. Sure there are extra costs involved with multiple mgmt offices, but it's worth every penny to be able to whipsaw everyone into submission. Unions are the real enemy to mgmt, and unions aren't worth much when mgmt can contract out to the lowest bidder.

There should be a "Never" option

I'm not sure if you've noticed, but the whipsaw is a moot point now. And 3 different corporate structures and pay scales won't make sense forever. I'm not saying anything will happen soon, but I do think eventually there will be one AAG regional.

Not sure what planet or year you are living on, but look around and notice there is no "whipsaw" at the AA wholly owned. What one gets, the other two get as well. We are all equal. Originally everyone thought that AA would play one against the others. All the keyboard warriors were certain of it. Time has shown that the opposite is true.

I don't see a merger happening anytime soon. But I don't doubt it at some point. This whole idea of "whipsaw" is dead..and we didn't need some silly Facebook group with silly kitbag stickers to kill it either.

Fair enough but it is not "whipsaw" that is dying, it is the regional outsourcing model. If they are ever able to outsource pilot labor again (open skies...?), then you can be sure they'll whipsaw again. Outsourcing and whipsawing go hand in hand, and not just in the airlines.

I could see a merger happening someday, but I assume they would merge 2 of the 3 WO years before merging all 3. Consolidation among regionals has to happen someday, but whether it is tomorrow or 5 years from now I have no idea.

I think your frustration is somewhat misplaced. Eagle negotiated their scope for flow to AA. Later AA used their lack of scope to give away their furture planes to Compass, and current ones too TSA, X-jet, and Peidmont, and PSA. Your are upset that PSA positioned themselves to receive flow like Eagle already had. You obviously took your flow for granted, and didn't realize how badly other pilot groups wanted it.
Do you really believe PSA FO'S swung the vote for 900's? Of course not it was and is all about the flow. If you work at Eagle you should understand that. You have everything and are still gripping. Ask AWAC or ASA if they'd like flow to AA. By what divine right have you "earned" it. The only people who rightfully should be upset are the 1,000 guys that were forced to leave Envoy due to the union using them as bartering chips.

Right now they are being used together, but management is definitely reserving their right to whipsaw in the future. They are also reserving the right to merge certificates when times get tough again. In the short term, WO's get similar treatment in an effort to maintain the profitability of the in-house regional model. Right now, it's all about attracting new hires to maintain the model while other legacies begin to bring flying back to main line. AAG will be better off in this regard IMO

You freaking noobs need a history lesson. That was set upon us in the 90's and didn't work out too well for the 4 combined carriers. What you guys need to be focusing on is merging the regional seniority lists with the mainline seniority list. Stop fighting each other over scraps and go for the gold.

Our "MEC" chairman and a lot of the lower alpa idiots there when this went down had degrees in animal husbandry. Sold us down the river for 16 years. Lucky for me I left there just after 9/11---been happy ever since.

Good luck

Okay, I guess I can see where you're coming with the whole "what one gets, the other two get as well argument", because it's true to a degree.

Look at the most recent pay increases that went through in the past two weeks. AA management offered the deal at different times to the three WO regionals (only days apart, but still). Yeah, it was the same deal for all intents and purposes. But because PSA agreed to the offer before Piedmont even received anything in writing, it sort of backed them into a corner and forced the acceptance of a deal with unfavorable circumstances for some.

My point is that IF the MECs at the three wholly owneds had gotten together and negotiated as one, maybe we would have gotten more out of the deal. But thats not how it went down, and we went home with a decent deal that could have been better. I'm not complaining, just sayin.
