Alaska economy worried about pilot shortage

This is more of a 135 problem. Not many want to risk their lives in the bush for what the pay is these days.

Probably different for floats, but I can't think of any operators that are hiring first-year AK pilots to fly floats right now.
Who's hiring $400/day first year? :P

135 everywhere is starting to feel the squeeze. I've even heard of a couple decent 135s in FL that have recently been condoning some sketchy practices in the name of saving a few bucks here and there. The reality is that some 135s will close up shop, and those that can weather the market for long enough for their competition to go out of business will reap the rewards. They will ultimately have to start charging more and paying pilots more if they want to succeed.

When I worked for Hageland a C207 driver got $220/day.
