Will do, thanks! Yeah, some high schools are barely covering US History, let alone World History.

From what I gather from the previous three posts it does have to do with World War II, so you aren't too far off.

Yes. What for a US millennial is barely remembered ancient history are very personal and relevant events to most Asians.

Koreans don't like Japan either, same reason.

91% of the Chinese population wasn't even alive during WW2...Just like millennials. In fact, well over half their population is younger than 50.

The Vietnamese hate the Chinese and the Japanese; the Chinese hate the Japanese; the Koreans hate the Japanese; both the Japanese and Chinese hate the Russians; Turkic Chinese hate the Han Chinese; and that's only the beginning and goes on far longer than WW II

It's a cultural thing, they don't forget. Their governments probably hammer the history lessons home pretty hard.

I deal with it all the time. When we do military exercises with the Japanese and the RoK we have to keep them at arms length from each other.

But if you think that's bad...the Arabs are still butt hurt about the crusades. I mean literally every Arab with a 3rd grade education knows all about it and
lives it every day (you've probably never even heard of the crusades, it was about 1000 years ago).

I'm pretty good with military and general history. I just disagree with your premise that just because someone is a millennial means they don't understand history. A cultural indoctrination of hatred of another's race, nationality, religion, or sex is long lasting and has no regard for age or generation.

I was using millenials as a contrast to asians because they are the first US generation which grew up without being immersed in WW2 culture. Asians are still marinating in it, nothing against millenials for that.

My parents lived through it, grandparents fought in it, and many of the movies, TV shows, and toys of my youth were WW2 themed. So I grew up hearing the stories first-hand, and Germans and Japanese were in the bad guy category, same as the outlaws in the westerns.

They do teach much about Asian history, even in college courses.
