Default International JS Denied

So much for No Pilot Left Behind. Another slap in the face for regional pilots. First mainline will not allow a regional to grow to prevent competition like DAL and COMAIR. Mainline pilots also did not hold the line and relinquished their scope. Allowing regionals to grow but only so much to their betterment and regionals pilots detriment except for building time and experience which could have been achieved without giving up scope. International or domestic jumpseat should not matter regardless if you are at a mainline or regional and should be equal to all based on this antiquated system that was never meant to be like this. Don't think it will change but at least AA will be assured I will afford the same courtesy that I was offered.

You didn't give details here, but you are not allowed to ride jumpseat on international flights on most carriers (Atlas, and a few other cargo guys will allow it except for FE and UPS). This is not personal on the parts of these carriers. TSA has restricted CASS as domestic only. And while I-CASS does exist in theory, it is still not in use today. So don't hold it against your fellow pilots at mainline for not allowing you an international jumpseat.

So you often jump seat internationally? I would love to know details, as it is not allowed by almost every carrier.

You are correct sir however it does not matter when riding in back as a passenger. No offline in the cockpit allowed internationally but in back anyone can or should be allowed. Now someone I am sure will come on and say but your company doesn't fly international except for Canada. My point is we cannot due to what has happened in the industry so why hold this lame excuse against regional pilots?

You can Jump Seat internationally, as long as there is a cabin seat, the restriction is for the flight deck.

He said Jump Seat. I take that to mean "jump seat". Riding in the back is different.

Give details. Who do you work for? What company was it? How did you list for it? Did you talk to the Captain, or was it the gate agent?

You don't talk to the captain at AA. Reason No international agreement domestic only which is BS.

These international Jumpseat situations can be tricky. There aren't a lot of details here but it sounds like you were trying to Jumpseat internationally on American. American typically does not extend their Jumpseat agreement for international flights to most regionals.
