Honestly, I've used this from the start and never looked backed. Seem less integration from all logbooks and great ui. Here's a link to a free trial and no, I don't work for them lol. Just good stuff!

This thing is amazing. Very tunable and will give you airlineapps ready data...
Syncs on all my MS an iOS devices with a click and internet connection.

Another vote for mccPilotLog, here.
And on the topic of logging PF/PM, I'm new to flying 121...is logging PF/PM necessary or important? I haven't been logging that, but I'm not so far along yet that it wouldn't be insurmountable to go back and are that to my logbook.

I think most software will automatically log your landings based on a PF/PM selection. Not necessary for logging, just a tool of convenience.

1. mcc will connect to most airline computer systems and pull the data straight from the airlines system to populate the log book. You will have to enter PF or PM and instrument time and landings. The rest is done for you.
2. The price is around $80 for lifetime. $300 is a little too high to spend for less options. The $80 will get multiple computers and apps as well as cloud backup and the airline interface.

Two things that I see different from mccPILOTLOG.

Not sure because I'm not at an airline yet, but what do they use?
If any of these it can import directly into SafeLog

He's not talking about converting from one logbook to another. He's referring to a logbook being able to login to a company website (Sabre, Flica, what have you) and download flight times stored in the company database by ACARS, which is an automated system that talks between the aircraft and company. One can log into a website and view times. But some logbooks can also extract data from said company websites.

Gotcha. If SafeLog can't extract from that then I will definitely be changing. Once I'm at the airlines, I don't plan on being in my logbook too much.
Just to keep helicopter currency really

The flight time is the same, either way. What changes is the landings and the instrument approaches. You should only log an instrument approach and/or T/O & LDG if you are the PF. CatII approaches being the caveat to that one, IMO.

It's really very simple. I input each flight into my phone (Google sheet) after the shutdown check is complete as I wait for pax to leave. Copy/paste it into Excel when I get home from a trip. Takes hardly any time at all. My Excel has every bit of info I can think of for an airline app, plus calculates annual per diem deduction for me using both base rate and location rates (to see which is more advantageous tax-wise).
