It's all spelled out pretty clearly on Republic's career site. There are no delays between training stages at Republic unlike other Regionals. From my first day (INDOC, add 10 days if you need to go to CTP) to off of IOE was just shy of 3 months by like two days, and that included a 10 day break around Thanksgiving. It is pretty streamlined and the training department does a good job keeping things moving.

Do people generally travel back home for the weekends? I was thinking of either going back every two weeks or getting my wife over.
PS: I plan on studying as much as possible each day and I already feel very comfortable with profiles, limitations, general airplane systems etc.

Yes, to a point. The hardest working guy in our class, the first and last guy in the study room, and an all around good guy washed out.

My class, same thing happened, but he came from a 152 instructing position with hardly any complex aircraft experience. He also had other issues and ultimately was not allowed to do his checkride. We never got the full story though.
While being early and staying late in the classroom can be beneficial, it can also hurt you. Our class did group studies, which allowed us to build off of everyone's experience and knowledge and explain things in a clearer way than what our Flight safety instructors could. I do not remember him taking part in those studies.

What was his background though?

I read it as that is your pay per day. That’s it/everything, you get a room paid for and you get that $60/day. You get guarantee 75hr pay starting on day 31. Were you thinking you get more during training? Not making $ for the company yet so you really should not expect much. Doesn’t seem much different than other companies as far as this sort of pay.
