Default KEWR & KLGA lines

Hi everyone! Choosing between Republic and Endeavor as my first 121 flying job (I do have some prior 135 time jet time).

I live in NJ, very close to EWR (and in terms close to LGA) and QOL will play a major role in my decision. Heard most lines at EDV are 4 day trips as opposed to Republic where I think someone was telling me a year ago that LGA lines have a good number of day trips along with a good mix of those at EWR. Can someone share typical lines for the two bases? Also, how easy will it be for the new hire to get day or 2 day trips after hitting the line?

Greatly appreciated! Sorry if this was asked before.

EWR at RPA has a good mix of trips 1-5 days (contractually required) and is one of our historically most junior bases. It is a commuter heavy base so if you really like day trips and 2 days you will be able to get those pretty quick. When I was based there the guys who lived in jersey absolutely loved it. Driving to LGA from jersey can be a huge pain, but if a delta interview is worth it then thats your decision I suppose. Our contracts are about equal and we both have “growth” coming. You won’t go wrong with either one but if you happen to get stuck I think you would be happier long term at RPA.

Thanks for the reply! That's exactly what I thought as commuters tend to pick up longer trips so for anyone living in base this could be a great setup and awesome QOL (home almost every night!). I am definitely leaning towards Republic.

Thanks for asking this question. I'm in the same boat but on the long island side. Recruitment was saying upgrades are down to 18 months @ Republic?? EDV is still advertising 2-3 years. Both also running classes once a week through mid 2020.
Both seem like good places to be and I get a good vibe from both pilot groups.

If you live in NJ, why on earth would you even consider 9E other than slightly better pay? Long reserve there, slow upgrades. EWR lines are some of the better lines in the system. Wide mix of trips, many of them very high credit. Lots of guys in EWR are the ones crediting 90 with over 16 days off. Only downside is EWR itself...always the first into and last out of a ground delay program, usually longest EDCT times of all 3 NY airports, and other operational issues make it particularly painful even compared to LGA. Any of that beats the miserable drive to sit hot reserve at LGA or JFK at 9E for months though.

Junior award on the latest vacancy is 11.5 months on property. I would not consider this pilot the norm though.

Beside him, it’s around 15-18 months. We had 8 vacancies that went unfilled on this last bid, all in BOS.

One year on property at EWR

I have 6 two day trips for 86 hours credit next month!
I can also bid reserve and take any 12 days off I like for the month(to save my vacation time).

On a different note, does anyone at Republic commute from MCO/TPA to EWR or LGA? I would appreciate some insight in this arena. Thanks.

Not sure what you mean by short lines.

If that's a reaction to my schedule for next month, I wanted that.

I was just looking in open time for next month and there are plenty of 3 and 4 day trips there. Using SAP2 I could easily up that to 100 hrs of credit by adding a single 4 day. Just not interested.

I just checked this months pairings, there were about 130 4 day trips out of EWR.
