Moderators- I’m requesting my thread be deleted. I didn’t intend to start an argument just convey a sense of pilot support. That has gone sideways. Please delete.

You are really not in a difficult spot. You are in a spot where you can do the right thing, and treat your fellow pilots across all different airlines amicably. Equitably. You are embarking on a foolish and harmful road. Think twice. You might additionally subject yourself to retribution in ways you or I never foresaw.
Denying jumpseat is unbelievably repugnant. Any union which advocates this is a bad union. Only a scab should be denied the jumpseat. I would defy my union on this one. It's disgusting.
Seeing many Very new pilots to the industry doing this is unbelievable. They don't have a clue what they are embarking on. I have zero respect for ANY denier.

Anyway, I wouldn't take on ALPA. Not good. Just flew with a Capt. involved in hiring, don't expect a call, but a letter.

Ya, talked with the AA Captain today (JSing on his AC). Sounds like their current policy is what UAL is transitioning to. (I hear DAL does this too) Are they being denied JS now too?

You think they’re going to tell HR not to hire you over this? They’re going to silently throw your resume in the trash by saying you’d be difficult to work with and they can’t imagine flying a four day with you.

Cut me a break man, you’ve got guys here who have been doing this their entire lives. They’ve actually seen guys cross the picket lines. You haven’t even been in the industry when anyone was striking. You’re new, and I’m relatively new. But I know when to listen to the old heads. Grow up

This is exactly how it happens with the pilots on the other list when they try to get into leadership or committee positions. They are interviewed just like everyone else, but when many people apply for a few positions, for some strange reason they are never selected. It’s hard to prove that they are being discriminated against when the other applicant was determined to be a better fit. It’s the same deal with this jumpseat mess. Saying no is purely up to the captain, but doing so right now may put that individual on the radar and the ALPA pilots on the hiring board may just find that they like the other applicants better.

Last I checked, a jseat denying cAPTAIN falls into no legally protected class that I’m aware of.
Do tell.
One last thing. If you think factual lists are slanderous and discriminatory I would suggest a read of DUNN v ALPA.
