Good afternoon,

We have an exciting new program at Republic Airways that will get you to the right seat of one of our Embraer 175s within seven months. In conjunction with Cape Air we are starting our Jumpstart Pathway Program. If you qualify for an unrestricted ATP we will get you into the left seat at Cape Air where you will start building your time towards 121 upgrade. As soon as you hit 700 hours of 135 PIC time at Cape Air you will get your class date with Republic Airways.

Other benefits:

$2500 bonus upon completion of Cape Air training
Up to $100,000 bonus at Republic Airways
Housing paid for seven months at Cape Air
If interested, please email us at [email protected] with the best phone number to reach you at and we’ll be in touch quickly.
Yeah, that’s ridiculous.

Interesting how fast things come around full circle. The 2010's regional network is getting sucked back up to mainline by 220s, A319s, and other NBs while Regional flying goes back to prop jobs and short hops. Much more like it was back in the 00s. This may be the new (which was old) reality.

I’d love to chat with some of the folks that end up falling for this. At least if you sign up early you’ll only have to fly until late autumn

If you qualify for an unrestricted ATP you qualify to serve as SIC in 121 ops sooooo … why? Talk about a scam.

This is another solution to the regional captain shortage. Skywest is starting their own 135 charter to do it. Republic is just partnering with cape air to do the same thing.

By getting applicants to get to a 135 operator and gain hours there to get them qualified for 121 pic operations faster.

You can bet there will be an agreement that these pilots will upgrade as soon as they hit 1000 hours of combined 135/121 time. Only caveat is they have be PIC in the 135 operation- so that’s the reason for the unrestricted ATP

So instead of getting paid 90 an hour as a new FO they are getting paid less, not flying 121, and then using the hours to qualify the pilot for 121 PIC operations without having to have them fly 1000 hours as an FO in the 175.

Yes, this kind of adds onto what I alluded to earlier. As long as there is a pilot shortage there is going to be a Regional Cpatian shortage. Regionals can no longer afford to hire 1500 hours CFIs that who will need at least 1000 horus before upgrade. They need to hire FOs that can upgrade in less time than that. This isn't going to change anytime soon. Not by this fall, not by next year. Not until we get over the crest of retirements.

I expect, just like it was 20 years ago, you need to go somewhere to gain applicable experience towards Part 121 upgrade before you become competitive. Everything is cyclical.

Sure, a 121 FO would get paid $90 a hour…. But, who’s hiring them in the next 3-5 months? If these low time guys could get a job flying 121, they wouldn’t go to Cape. Short term, this could be the only option they have, if they want a 121 PIC job in a year from now. I could see someone getting through training at Cape fairly quickly and getting the scheduled 135 time, considerably quicker then going SIC 121.

Fast build toward upgrade. If that’s your goal - do it. Faster than waiting for an fo class.

I just received this, also,
I already have almost 1,000 hours part 121. Maybe its just a mass emailing.

If they had an FO shortage then you could make the argument for different tactics to prevent them from leaving.
