Wow, I remember getting hired by Continental Express for $19.00 / hour in 2001, for the ATR 42 !
Sure, a 121 FO would get paid $90 a hour…. But, who’s hiring them in the next 3-5 months? If these low time guys could get a job flying 121, they wouldn’t go to Cape. Short term, this could be the only option they have, if they want a 121 PIC job in a year from now. I could see someone getting through training at Cape fairly quickly and getting the scheduled 135 time, considerably quicker then going SIC 121.

I suspect there will be few if any new hire classes the rest of the year, and the seniority list will shrink down to +/-1700. There are few upgrades, no rentention incentives and lots of CA attrition

Unless major hiring slows it’s gonna get uglier…

I did notice that in my base CAs now outnumber FOs. Probably due to FO attrition. But the sim instructors I've flown with are VERY unhappy flying the line and all sounded like they were ready to leave if they didn't get put back in the sims by summer.

Crazy part is that they’re hiring sim instructors
