..or it might make you stick out from the crowd of FO's who are trying to get on with a legacy without challenging themselves in this way...

Everybody has to do what they are most comfortable with, but, there are a lot of ways to skin this cat....

Lots of ways to skin it, but not lots of ways to do it efficiently. It is what it is. If you chose to upgrade, there’s nothing wrong with that - that’s your choice. You knew the risks & potential seniority trade-off when you made that decision, and you’ll certainly grow as a pilot as a result. I hope everyone is happy with their own personal decisions.

For most new guys just getting started, it’s just not the most efficient method.

Okay, I’ll ask directly:

Who does it make sense for at Republic right now? With reserve times encroaching on the 1+ year mark, very few people new to the airline are building time quickly. How can anyone say it’s most efficient for the bulk of those people to stick around until they can upgrade?

You see Andy, that's the point I'm trying to make here. It's not for me or you to decide what makes sense for someone else. You seem to be so hung up on you knowing what is right for someone else, you can't see this.

There are a lot of reasons it could be a good choice for someone. Is it for everyone, NOPE.

Not to mention, the CA/FO ratio is normalizing again, as this is happening, there is more and more flying for the FO's. The available reserves in my base was down to 3 when I checked while attempting to drop something last week.

It's the lack of CAs is what has been holding YX back from taking on more flying.

If age 67 (68) passes, it’s going to become many people’s best option for the legacies rather quickly.

Did you fail a ride? Because that’s the vibe I’m getting. Not talking smack either because I made it to delta of all places with 2 failures since my instrument ride that were 100% my fault. Bottom line is, everyone has a bad day in the sim and some people just aren’t built for this job. I was a sim instructor at republic until this year and I’m here to tell ya, the caliber of student when RPAs staffing was low was a muchhhhhh different. Not as a whole with the classes, but a solid chunk of them had washed out from other regionals like air whisky and mesa etc. if a student isn’t learning from an instructor like they think they should, meaning they feel comfortable for a check ride then they should speak up to the training department because that’s easily fixed. We don’t stand there being observed for 30 days by a standards check airman just BSng through everything and qualify as instructors. Are there bad instructors? Totally. Are there students who need to go find a new career, totally. Can’t blame one side when you have no clue what you’re talking about and just blasting an opinion. It normally falls somewhere in between the two.
