I seem to do the exact opposite whenever I'm employed by a 121....

Odd....

Scheduler Bob: First Officer Soandsoski? This is Bob from scheduling.

FO Soandsoski: *sound of beer being opened* Hi Bob, how are you today?

Scheduler Bob: I'm well, thanks for asking. Unfortunately, I am calling to junior man you. You report in 2 hours for a stand-up overnight to BFE with our most annoying captain and the ugliest, whiniest flight attendant at the company.

FO Soandsoski: *sound of drinking beer* Well Bob, unfortunately I am sitting on my patio enjoying this splendid afternoon and I am already two beers deep and working on number three. If you want to delay the flight for 8/12 hours, I would be more than happy to help you then.

Schedular Bob: Oh uh... We can't do that... Thanks anyway. *click*

Of course you can avoid that conversation in the first place by not answering your phone if you don't have to and scheduling calls! But you're right, major win on THAT clause!

To the OP, I admire your willingness to flip them the bird if things don't fit your circumstances. I just wish more people were willing to do the same rather than bend over and take it for $19/hr. My only word of caution would be the training contract at RAH (one of the few left in the industry). If you do decide to start training and get most of the way through (I think one guy said they didn't learn their bases until almost done with sims?) then quit, you may get left holding the bag. I would make sure you know every detail about that training contract before you set foot in their training facility. What say you current RAH guys?

Except that doesn't work during your last day of reserve or when you are still on duty during a trip.

See previous replies re: ACARS messages, disguises and sacrificial deadheaders/jumpseaters.

We are not phone liable while on a trip, at least at my company.

I don't get why people feel the need to give excuses to the company when they call to offer OT on your scheduled day off. Just tell them no. When I was at RAH I didn't take great measures to avoid scheduling but I by no means went out of my way to help either. I was indifferent, much the same as the company was towards to me and I never had any issues with the scheduling guys/gals.

If you want SDF you will get it however and pay close attention here....

1. SDF is 145 flying which is GOING AWAY! Contracts start to expire this fall and the last one goes in 2016.
2. The only reason SDF is a base is because we have a MX hangar there. If RAH sells the hangar due to 145 flying being pulled down SDF will close.
3. With our 4+ year upgrade you MIGHT be able to not commute while you are an FO but I highly doubt SDF will be open when you make CA.
4. If you are junior while the 145 flying goes away you will probably be involuntarily displaced to Shuttle or Republic. (you will not have a choice which certificate or which base).
5. Right now there is not much hiring for CHQ becasue it is shrinking. Most of the hiring is for S5 and YX. You can ask in your interview and they will tell you what Cert you are being hired for, I did and got what I asked for had to wait for a month before I started training though.
6. You will not know your base until sim. Our company does not plan ahead which is should be painfully obvious if you have done your research on this company.
7. If you can handle IND then you will be happy becasue it will be open tell the day the company goes out of bussiness.

Good luck, DO YOUR RESEARCH BEFORE YOU PICK ANY AIRLINE TO WORK FOR!!!

It's not that easy, at Eagle that would constitute a (MA) Missed Assignment. Day off but if you don't show up is a MA, got to love this industry!

That sucks....how on earth did that get into your contract. I guess RAH wasn't that bad in some ways, but they did make up for it in other areas.

I do really believe that all of the "your airline is worse than mine" B.S. is just folks trying to feel better about their particular piece of the crap sandwich called regional airline....

I'm just glad I left the party.

I think PNCL did the same thing. My wife warned me never to answer her cell phone on her day off when she worked there.
