At the regional I flew with many guys never finished college. At the majors a college degree is still required with few exceptions. Is that the case with the regionals? At the majors you won't find to many guys that had previous failures and incidents with the FAA because they were weeded out in the hiring process and those pilots stayed with the regionals because their hiring standards were less stringent. How many majors have you been hired with? And don't blame the majors for the historically bad wage, benefit and retirement the regionals offer. You guys have had plenty of opportunities over the years to raise the bar and what do we have today..... 37 dollars per hour for a 12 year Republic f/o, maybe one carrier with trip and duty rigs and pretty much all regional carriers whose management violates their contract daily because of very little respect for their pilot group(think Comair, Mesa ,Go ,ASA, Trans States etc etc etc). I've flown plenty of domestic trips in and out of the east coast but until you fly into China with different rules, proceedures and broken english don't tell me your job is harder. I've been there and done that and I can tell you there is a difference. My worst day at the major I fly for was 10 times better than the best day I flew at the regional I worked for. And one other fact about the majors, you won't find a lot of punk ass kids who seem to know it all. If your happy where you are great, but if you get the chance to come see how the other half lives by all means come and join us. I'll by you the first beer.
I am a regional pilot. I have a four degree from a small prestigious liberal arts college. I am 32, fairly mature without much ego and a constant desire to better my pilot abilities. I have lived abroad, speak Japanese and know what it is like to work with people of limited English ability. I instructed Indians, Chinese and Japanese students who could barely hold any kind of conversation in English. I'd like to join you on the other half. Although part of my post is to disagree with your sterotype of regional pilots, I know that in this latest wave of hiring a lot of immature pilots were hired. I don't think I will be in this industry much longer if it gets any worse. If I do stick around will you help me get a job where you work? I'm serious.

So whatever happened to the flight crew of Delta 60? Can someone please confirm if the female on the audio tape is still employed at Delta? I know a person who is claiming to have been the female onboard but this story and many others don't match up. Thanks.
