Or maybe they stowed them before they shut the engines down? Why pick the easy answer when you can wildly speculate instead?

Very serious, complete hull loss.
Walked away, A/C is unusable.
To much speculation, wait for the data.
It could have been any of us.

I'll wait to make judgments until I hear what Richard Questhas to say on this accident.

The right clamshell was definitely deployed when I saw him go by on rollout at midfield. I had landed our MD about 90 minutes prior and we were taxiing to Rwy 4 at the time (don't tell CNN that I'm a copilot). It was at exactly the same time that we ended up turning around and heading back to the gate because we were overweight for the runway condition (1/4 CLTR) and saw them sitting on the fence. As for EPR, we landed Flaps 40 with Max Autobrakes and went with about 1.2 EPR, since it's difficult to get the 88 reversers to come up smoothly together, and on a contaminated RW the recommendation is 1.3 max (1.6 dry). Definitely feel for the crew and glad everyone was able to walk away. Snow is still coming down hard and now just waiting for my duty day to run out and get some reroute pay. Not getting home to Hotlanta tonight

Why does the media keep digging up that old fossil Schiavo?

And why doesn't LGA Port Authority have the capability or report MU readings!? U would think with the obvious wx and limits of LGA they would have this equipment.... Only in NYC ....

And then you'd get out of the airplane in full reverse?

My god!!??!!!! Is that normal?
FO? What the heck is an FO? Is that, like, a co-pilot?

And thus, by definition, it was a good landing.
