Quote: No--not FNGs at all.

Given the low prevailing winds and no significant weather, there are a variety of factors that can't be ruled out--none of us has any data on the mechanical state of the aircraft, the physiological condition of the crew, any human factors issues present, the CVR/FDR/FOQA data, etc..

It is extremely bad karma and extremely unprofessional to pass judgment on fellow pilots, especially when no one even knows what happened yet.
This ^^^^^^^ Thank you

That was on landing. The plane didn't leave after that.

Close call for valley-based Mesa Air Group flight - Story | KSAZ From the photographer:
Quote:
He said it seemed like a normal landing right up until the plane was a few feet off the ground and believes the pilot may have hit wind shear.

"Considering he was only a few feet off the ground, he did a good reaction and saved the plane and all the lives on board," said DeLaGarza.

About the same way you would with a 8 knot crosswind landing lol

Wait..Pause. You mean to tell me you can't land a commercial jet just like you would a Cessna? Mind=Blown.

They probably slammed the power back to idle on short final too. And why not? That's probably how both pilots were landing their light GA aircraft 6 months ago.

Clear Prop!!

11 years...6 months, same difference right? FO's not new either.

I dunno how anyone can throw stones before more info is out. You know, glass houses, karma, that kind of stuff.

I am pretty sure this qualifies as an "Incident", not an "accident".
The CA is a very senior, experienced aviator, the FO is only slightly jr to me. This is not a case of inexperience. I hate to see this happen, and this picture will haunt Mesa PR for eternity. On the bright side, it's only two scratches on the wingtip.

Could happen to any airline. Everyone with a pulse is getting hired at 1501 hrs. Still no excuses and to be honest that wing digging into the runway and causing a loss of life was close. That is not good for ANY of us.
