Quote: According to the 717 guys, DAL is so HAPPY with the jet that we are looking for MORE!

I'm really confused now!
That is what senior management was saying.

But, it could be they sniff the market changing.
Quote: Had a LCA tell me that the company isn't happy with the 717 numbers. He said they aren't getting the fuel numbers they were hoping for, and they expected it to go more junior. He said to expect an announcement this fall that they are going to stop taking delivery of the rest of the 717s.
lulz... wait, was he an LCP for Delta Air Lines?

Actually the real interesting blowoff from this theory is what SWA would then do with those airplanes. Maybe this is an attempt to drive their costs up more....

As far as the fuel issue goes, this would be counter to what they have said about fuel burn in the past, especially with regards to shorter legs. I would also think with an aircraft type that has been operated as long as the 71 has, they would have had pretty solid numbers ahead of time.

And I agree with the other poster, the senioirty issue makes no sense whatsoever. At this point, 99 percent of the captains were going to be 12 year guys. The top half of the FO seat maybe a little more senior, but I severely doubt that that would be the tipping point for profitability.

GS with conflict?

I don't know about any of that. But I deadheaded on one last night. REALLY enjoyed the complimentary 45 minute shower during the taxi. A couple of suggestions... They could make the water a little warmer and complimentary soap would be a nice touch.

That gets a standing golf clap. Wow
The 717 is a great plane for the markets it's serving and opening up for delta. Plus it's a great defensive move against the whole industry. There is not a capable 100 seat plane out there, that you can get a lot of (emb190 is fine but you can get 88 in a year). We now can saturate a market open up a market segment a market with a100 seat jet, while our competitors cannot. They have to a bus or 737.

LOL sounds like you got trolled, bro.

If anything, the fuel numbers have been well established. That rumor fails the sniff test right out of the box.

Maybe having a fleet of E-175's and E-190's makes them not as attractive as they were a year ago.
Who has E190s for DL?

Yeah this is just a poorly thought out stupid rumor from top to bottom.

Even if the plane "went too senior" whatever that means, that just means where they would have been (100% in higher paying equipment) is more junior and cheaper than it would have been. The fuel numbers have long been established and I seriously doubt AirTran could keep something so super top secret for so long, even if they were the only source, which obviously they weren't. Boeing, Hawaiian and every other operator would also have to be in on it to complete the conspiracy.

I'm calling it. Time of rumor death: 19:32Z
