Quote: I used to drink diet coke to avoid excess sugar, but I read some alarming facts about the artificial sweetener used in it, aspartame. I recommend anybody that drinks large quantities of diet coke to google about aspartame and its health impact. I now drink regular coke, just in moderate amounts.

My family and friends all drink coffee. I would like to drink it too, but I can't get past the awful taste. I try to drink it with little or no sugar and cream, as they probably destroy any health benefits the coffee provides. Does anybody have some tips to develop a taste for it? It's so hot and bitter, and it burns my mouth. I prefer a cold domestic beer.
I like my coffee like I like my women, ground up and in the freezer ...but seriously, start out by drinking the stuff with lots of cream and lots of sugar. Once that goes down easy remove the cream and eventually get rid of the sugar. Stay away from the generic coffee (folgers, mlb, maxwell house, etc.), that stuff brews up to be **** water. Spend the extra money and buy the Starbucks (I recommend the Starbucks Sumatra blend) or other high class stuff, most of which you can buy at your local grocery store. It would make sense to brew up a weak batch while you are trying to aquire the taste. Don't do that, I can't explain it but any type of coffee (good or bad) brewed weak tastes terrible. I can't get enough of the stuff-I drink my black coffee around the clock. In closing I'll add something I read awhile back in the 'What I've Learned' issue of Esquire: "It's hard to beat a ***deleted by admin***, but a good hot cup of coffee on a cold day in your favorite mug can come really close." In my opinion it is absolute truth. Good luck on aquiring the taste.
