I received a call today from a friend that still works there. He affirmed that rumors abound and that they aren't pretty.

I hope that the reduction in fractional flying is gradual and that it is offset by a modest gain in management contracts. However, in my experience, an announcement like this is just a way of saying "cinch those belts, it's about to get turbulent."

Best of luck to those that may become affected by any future announcements from BS (huh, who'd have thought that those are his initials...).

FLOPS benefits the most from CA's troubles... even if Netjets manages to grab some or most of those owners, FLOPS has been hanging on for dear life for a while. To have a top competitor out of the way, its almost like a shot in the arm to FLOPS....

my opinion, FLOPS is the big winner (if there is such a thing)

Any truths to 25 being furloughed? I sincerely hope not. CA was one of the places I wanted to goto. Unfortunately my buddy there in dispatch said he heard 25 being furloughed and possibly more in the future! Something about partnering with NetJets and letting them take over the fractional side of the operation. Man...

That's been one of the rumors of why CS made their decisions.... Cessna is an a/c manufacturer who's main business is to sell planes.. Netjets buys alot of planes.... After NJA announced their Global and Phenom purchases, I believe Cessna took notice that they better do something because they no longer had Santulli's loyalty...

Although I do not know anyone "in the know"..... My simple economics tells me that gaining a few billion dollars in a/c orders is much more lucrative than maintaining a fledgling fractional model...That either lost money or din't produce a whole lot... Whether or not NJA may have approached Cessna about such a scenario is anyones guess..

This is all just my unprofessional, unbiased opinion

We expect to furlough 112 by Feb 2013. Likely more after that, depending on Jet Card sales.
The Net Jets / Aircraft order rumors are not true as best I can tell.
The only thing certain is that CA is not renewing any fractional contracts. It's a money loser, at least for CA. Rumor has it that the cold truth is nobody is making money on fractionals regardless of the front they put out there.
That said, I have no solid facts to back that up.

CA will evolve into a smaller management and Jet Card company. Nobody knows exactly what it will look like in two years. AIN quoted management as saying "exciting new programs will be announced later this year". We shall see.

Was reading your post and looked towards the bottom of my screen. There was a ad for Magellan Jets 25 hrs at a time card... Evryone and their mother is pawning jet cards nowadays....

Is there a decent return on Jetcards or is it all in how you price it ? I know that my company's CEO refuses to get into the Jetcard market. It sounds like quick cash up front and then your stuck trying to serve everyone all at once.

Magellan Jets is a joke. There have been so many cookie cutter companies like that pop-up from old frac employees trying to make a dime that it's sickening.

That was my point

If CS's business model is gonna be jet cards and management they just joined on very non-exclusive club..... I don't care how CS, or any other company, tries to spice up the name. The basic principle of the card remains the same.

One of the only reasons the Marquis Card worked so well was that it was one of the first (if not the first) and they used Netjets exclusively. Unlike most of these card brokerages that use whatever charter company is willing to do the flight.
