Quote: No, I work for Kalitta and since his original question was about Pay at Kalitta with a follow up about how Hostile areas are determined, my answer was based on Kalitta pay.

I'm sorry, who needs to pay attention? go back to coloring now please.
My bad. I misunderstood you.

Atlas does not pay 6 hours a day for hostile areas. Atlas pays time and a half in and out of the zone.

Quote: Why did the union allow ANY unpaid days on the road? That is ridiculous. If you are away from home you need to be paid. K4 is not a charity.

Is that another screw up by D.W. ? He fights to limit how long you can be on duty and make money, and then he approves unpaid days!

The 'unpaid days" are only unpaid in generating additional credit. The K4 guys are getting paid for those days.

If they don’t generate credit , how exactly are we getting paid for them?

^^^ 64 hrs / 16 days...It's called: "Guarantee". ^^^

So then we are only getting “paid” for those days IF we don’t make guarantee .

Otherwise it is Like I said, an unpaid day as it generates no credit.

They dont generate ADDITIONAL CREDIT.

Like a reserve day, K4 pilots are paid in addition for reserve credits plus flight pay plus deadhead pay. If flight pay, plus deadhead plus reserve credits are above guarantee or line guarantee then you get paid the higher.
1/7's don't generate additional pay credits. They do not subtract pay in any way from line guarantee or line credit.
Its like an Atlas pilot flying in to his base on the first day and not receiving trip rig. They are still getting paid, just not getting rig for the day.

By that logic, Kalitta guys are getting paid for days off.

Hey, Atlas guys are, too! Did I just get a pay raise? I'm on a day off right now, and I am making guarantee this month, so I am getting paid for this day!

Well, wait a second. I could also volunteer to fly today, and make more money. Can K4 guys do that on a 1 in 7? Or are they required not to fly that day, and unable to make any additional money?

We didnt get eveything we wanted in this new contract.
Do you think you will get everything you and your negoiators want in your next contract?

I apologize. I support my brothers and sisters at K4 and I'm glad you made such big gains in your CBA. It was a long fight and you won.

I know the 1 in 7 isn't something you chose, it's something you ended up with. You made massive gains in your contract, and this isn't one of them. That's okay.

But don't be afraid to call a spade a spade. You (Lockheed) obviously aren't. 1 in 7s aren't paid days. They are a kick in the pants is what they are. Something that you will fix next time, no doubt.

But to defend that clause, to say that those are paid, that's just wrong. And arguably spreading management propaganda.

Then tell me what you are paid additionally for a 1/7 at Atlas? Trip rig does not guarantee that you are paid anything additional for that day. Its contingent on time spent outside base. How much do Atlas pilots make while sitting in base while away from home? How much are you paid for deadhead? what credits do you receive for reserve duty? Your counterparts at Kalitta and ABX are paid for these. (No contract is perfect) I personally think that you should be compensated for reserve credit, deadhead, trip rig, and loss of trip due to training. I think it would have been tough negotiating trip rig without giving those things up. If the K4 guys retain what they have and then get a rig in the next contract, they will have the best of both worlds. If they would have given up on reserve credit it would have been an impossible task to get it back. The K4 contract in whole is far superior to ANY contract currently in 1224, but still has vast room for improvement like all 1224 current contracts. Hopefully Atlas raises the bar in a few years when they get a new contract and Kalitta can raise the bar to the standard your negotiators set.
