Quote: I read that and don't see the "1200" number that has been tossed around for next year. I am seeing more in the 700-800 range
I agree for today!

Of course, this only represents what can be said before the (theoretical) announcement of getting some used airplanes. If/when that ever happens, I think we can get a much better idea of what hiring is really coming. If we are buying some airplanes, then the actual date that they are arriving will tell the real story on what our hiring needs will be and when.

I found this the most interesting part of the update:

Quote:

756: .......In addition to the 25 DCA 756 captain vacancies shown below, there may be a few more ‘growth’ vacancies ahead, plus backfills as reflected by the min/max bulletin......

320: The vacancy tells the story: Airbus growth opportunities reside in EWR, ORD and SFO.
This is the closest we've seen to "official confirmation" that we are about to acquire Airbuses, and reinforces rumors that we are looking at 767-300s (I've also heard 757-300s, in addition to the 767s).

I only have one datapoint for the 767/757 rumor, but allegedly, 3 or more 767s. The selling airline has 12. Not sure of a source airline or quantity for 757-300s; I don't have a rumored seller, nor quantity.

This is getting interesting.

Hawaiian is the 767-300 source, Condor is the potential 757-300 source, they have 15 currently.

And I’ll 2nd getting rid of the scabs!

I used to fly with that guy. Captain Aluminum I believe it was. The Tin Man I believe was his good friend. Interesting bunch.

If memory serves, not many 757-300's built. CO, and NW/Delta has most of them. Only 55 built? I think Delta has 16? We have 21? Not many to be had.

Training Module pays 1 hour for 5 hours of your life. So we will probably only hire 600 in the next 5 years.
