I think that number will be VERY small henceforth.
I can tell you that was never part of the culture. You should have heard the wailing when there was a proposed WB base fence. Lots of guys wanted access to fly WB out of LUAL bases, as has been demonstrated post-SLI. We all didn't live in EWR and IAH and the merger made a lot of guys commutes and QOL either non-existent or much easier.

What I have heard re 76s is the company looked at some, but decided it wasn't worth it given the age of the equipment and cost.

At the same time, about 2 months ago, I had heard the 350 was actually going to happen and that it would be around 100 jets with options, which turned out to be true.

So, by then the current junior guy would be about 9100. If the rumor comes true about the used planes, and more importantly, a good number are going to actually be in use by next summer, then I think somewhere between 10k and 10.5k for the junior Captain bid is possible.

Hopefully next week we will get some info on all these rumors.
737FO in DEN will still go more senior. 🤣

I am hoping the proverbial 'counting of chickens before they are hatched' hasn't happened here.

The likely sources of Airbusiums was/is Air Berlin, and Monarch.

Lufthansa bought all 72 Air Berlin buses three days ago for €210 million.

Monarch has 9 320s and 25 321s. Not sure if 321s makes it a more or less appealing deal.

As to 767 rumors: my sources say they were looked at (in person), but no word if they will be acquired.

The original rumor was that they were coming from Easy Jet. This was before Air Berlin and Monarch folded.

There are currently 17 319s that are still scheduled to enter service. Ordering 40 more for a total of 57 would be a nice growth bump.

UALforLIFE's post flew in under the radar. That website has been 100% correct so far and it already shows a start of 17 used A319s coming in 2018 which UAL has not announced officially so I think it's a safe bet on the Airbus rumor. Brings the tally to an impressive number:

30 Airbus
4 777
4 787

crews:

340 Airbus
180 WB

total about 520 slots plus retirements 380? = 900 to be hired in 12 months minimum. I see junior captain going VERY junior in EWR and/or SFO.

Is there a particular day of the week that the Hogan typically gets sent out on? And any idea on time between interview invite and actual interview?

Thanks!
