Latest rumor I heard is 2000 new hires in 2018.

Seems grossly improbable to me. But I thought I'd share the data point to get everyone's hopes up. Source is supposed to be in the human factors department at TK.

Flame on.

I wonder how many guys waive, fly sick, or take broken jets because they don't want to risk not getting hired through the CPP, since they know the company is tracking them?
True. Although in my time at XJT, it wasn’t as bad as some other places in regards to some of what you mentioned.

But I am surprised at some of the pilots that I heard got through the process. Just like OTS.

Also heard the sick call rate summer 2016 was extremely low compared to previous ones.

Think you heard that wrong. 1200 is the goal and that is confirmed by New Hire Coordinator, the TK LCA department, and some high up ALPA reps. Let's nix this 2000 thing. Couldn't be done anyhow. 1200 will be tough enough. I hope so, but has never been attained. If they hit 800, I would be delighted.

1200 means 800 new hires, FWIW. Anything over 800 would be gravy.

I'm inclined to believe 800 max as well.

"ever they called in sick"?
is that a performance measure now?
americans get a cold 4-5 times a year on average (CDC). pilots should not fly with a cold. so these guys are either equipped with super-immunity, or, they're flying while sick. if the former, they might help society by participating in research studies; if the latter, they better rethink their views on coming to the airport sick if they're scheduled to fly with me ...

4-5 times per year people get colds on average? That's a little excessive.

Strong word that we are getting 3 used, (but the last 3) 767-300ERs. Also looking for extra 757s.

Depends .. if you have young children, going to school or daycare and mingling with all the other young children, that's not excessive. My kids are adults now, but back in the day, I caught a lot of colds from them.
