This is the way of the future, ladies and gentlemen.

Airlines (one in particular) do not desire experience. They've done the math and the answer is for their regional captains -current and future- to train the next round of walking company billboards.

1500 hours is already too much experience for the Future Button Pushers of America. And remember, there is a massive pilot shortage coming! Soon!

We are already short regional captains. Wait til next year when SWA alone hires 900-1000 pilots. Shortage hitting

I agree, look how short we are now, and this big hiring spree is just at the beginning. You have to have some form of sustainable program to get pilots, otherwise our airlines will fall apart from the bottom up.

Yep...most of the top 200 are willing to stay. Maybe a few LCA’s after the TA rates....but most North of 300 are waiting for the call. Next year is going to be a big if our economy continues to grow.

And the game is now to lock everyone in that’s at a regional now, for the long term. Let them fight for the scraps of the regional flying and the “privilege” of teaching mainline hires who do 1 year and go fly a CS100. They can get people to sign up for long term training contract/indentured servitude jobs, making union representation useless, as the individual pilots are beholden to the company. Multi crew licenses, European style, are soon to follow, to eliminate the 1500 hours of CFI problem

But all I hear from people is roll over and let it happen... and I’m not sure why

We don't have any scope leverage over Delta, we can tell them no, and they will find someone else to say yes. It would be up to mainline pilots to stop this program, not us.

On top of it, we don't know where those pilots are going yet, I assume it's here, but that might not be the case.
