I agree with you 100%, hiring should be internal first, for any company position.

No one would disagree you don't deserve to move up at Delta. In fact, we'd love to see you have the opportunity. What we disagree with is this opportunity being offered to employees with little to no flying experience, meanwhile, the 1800 pilots doing the job day in and day out aren't good enough for better career progression. Insult to injury: they'll send this programs candidates to fly at our company (presumably) with a garunteed Delta pilot slot without willingness to do the same for our pilots.

Our dislike for this program is not rooted in our thought that this isn't a great program for people such as yourself. It's all about how we've been treated with respect to career progression and Delta's willingness to extend this opportunity to unproven aviators and not pilots that have been flying for years under the Delta brand.

You absolutely deserve it. I think people on this forum are just jumping the gun. The proposed pathway is still in early stages and the flight department at mainline is trying to figure it out. This may be part of a bigger recruitment plan where all EDV pilots eventually get an easier pathway to mainline. There are a lot of variables that mainline is probably considering so it's a fluid topic. Also, there seems to be a misconception among people here that you automatically get to be a pilot at Delta, but you might actually have jump through a bunch of hoops just like us. We're just butt hurt that we are good enough to fly for Delta, but not good enough to be Delta pilots. Personally, I don't care...

I threw bags for years while working on my flight training. Making just enough to get by. Pay as I go sort of speak. I respect you guys and gals down there...however you might be starting a ****ing match you can’t win. Get your flying completed ASAP! And escape the rough environment downstairs!

Exactly, I think the timing of the announcement is more of the issue than the actual program.

Don’t sweat it. You’re already more articulate than several on here. I am sure you’ll do just fine. Good luck on the flying!
