Let us know which way you go.... Would love to hear the pros/cons that influenced your decision. Both seem to be great airplanes.

After being on a Cessna product...the XL, for 11 years, I didn't even consider the Latitude. It may be a fine airplane. I'll never know. The 350 may work as hard as the XL, but it is a much more pleasant world. Creature comforts like better seats, more room, microwave and lack of things that hurt you make it a good workplace.

Just trying to figure out what's the best fit for my seniority...

I'd be much more senior in the Latitude but I think I'd enjoy the type of flying done in the 350 much more.

Just don't want to squander my seniority schedule and vacation-wise.

Thanks

Does the 350 do much Hawaii and Europe flying?

It does "some". I would not characterize it as "much". Definitely more HI than Europe.

If you lust for European flying, the 350 is not your plane.

I think at one point, we were told the average stage length for the 350 is only 2 tenths longer than the XL. I don't know it was true then..., or now.

Most guys I know on the 350 seem to do a lot of trans cons.

3-5 hr legs the norm?

Not unusual, but not the norm. Some tours I'll do many transcons, other tours...none. It's a box of chocolates.

Why not wait for a Global FO position? Talk about variety of flying! That's a big, comfortable cockpit too...

Anyone know someone who has made that switch as an FO to the Global? What is the QOL like on the Global fleet considering the different types of flying it does?

For a while, life on that fleet was pretty good. Now, they get the snot kicked out of them like any other fleet.

They can do the worst day any of the small fleets can do. Multiple legs, 12-14 hour duty days, min rest, rinse, repeat. They can also do the worst day the small fleets CAN'T do. 14-18 hour augmented crew duty days, 7 or 8 time zones crossed, min rest, reverse direction, rinse, repeat.

And they get to fly with some of the biggest tool bags in the company.

Any PIC who voluntarily downgrades to fly the Global as an FO these days needs an immediate drug test.

Understood. My feeling is, if the Global as a PIC is going to out of reach for so many, why not try for it as an FO and get that varied flight experience for a few years? Flying between MCI and APF or between VNY and ASE is really no different in the XLS vs the CL350/680A. Just my opinion... Global time would also be valuable in the market.
