The trips in chs and bdl are not commutable at all, TPA is not great either. The term commutable means flying in the same day you start your trip, and fly home the last day of your trip. THESE TRIPS ARE NOT COMMUTABLE!!!!!! Duty ins are all before 630am and get back the last day at scheduled 1030 to 11 pm. In reality we are getting back between 1130 to 230 am! So don’t be fooled about commuting!!!!! You will be traveling home and to work on YOUR days off!!!! The lines came out and pilots had 12 to 13 days off. The company had to rework the schedules because it was so bad, helped some not all.

There are no crash pads so pilots have been spending between $1100 and $2000 on hotels!

The company has attempted to make one transcon commutable, it’s a red eye, 2 legs. Chs to hpn to lax. Crews are continually timing out due to winds. Today the flight from hpn to lax is running 4 hrs late. MX250. Look it up, on flight aware. The red eye version starts next month. You will be leaving lax at 1:00am body clock time, arriving hpn at 5am ish, then chs by 9 am. That’s if it’s on time. Then you will be destroyed the next few of you days off trying to get back to a normal sleep habit. Some schedules have red eyes back to back. To be fair some pilots are happy for the red eye to save some money on hotels. Getting some popcorn out to watch the **** show

thank you for the info. You’re saying that there’s a 0630 showtimes and late night end times. I was under the impression that it was all day trips with the occasional two day trip thrown in…

E195 is day trips, A220 has traditional overnight schedules

Yea it has been said over and over that the A220 trips are 99% non commutable. Whoever that poster was is right, pretty much all check in times before 8am and almost all check out times 9pm or later. You’re not gonna commute in or out with that, u less you’re riding a FedEx JS somewhere.

E195 is day trips or E190 is charter. We are essentially 3 airlines (A220, day trip 195, or charter 190). Hopefully it will get better for the Airbus as more airframes come. Only time will tell. So be aware of what you’re getting in to

If you depart LAX at 1 AM body time that’s a midnight report. You have a 9 hour maximum duty day under FAR117. You are done at 9AM the next morning. If you are going to be even 1 minute late you can’t fly the second leg to HPN to CHS.

The 117 desk raises its hand and mentions something about extensions being available for duty time.

Read how and why you can use a extension and how often. Extensions must be approved by the flight crew on a individual basis. If you have just flown a all nighter from the West coast and face being hours late into CHS an extension would not be safe or prudent.
In fact many airlines already ban tag on flying after a transcon all nighter as a matter of safety despite it being legal. FOQA data showed that to be a wise policy as error rates soared on the second leg.

I get your point. Tell that to the crew on go-home leg that's already at minimum days off per month. It only takes 30 hours of rest to reset the two hour extension, and you get unlimited thirty minute extensions.

There are also rules on how and when a extension may be used by the company. Initially companies played fast and loose with the rules but the FAA is cracking down. The company planning a extension on a leg after a already delayed leg that they new about the night before would not pass the tests. This would be especially true if the flight transited a crew base.

Anyone know if they have filled June classes yet?

Too much too soon
The airline is expanding too fast and is straining the already strained resources. It can’t keep up and I believe a retrenchment is inevitable.

There are a lot of angry burned out employees and a lot of angry frustrated passengers. It seems every week there is another meltdown and every week they don’t listen. “We’re working on it” is just no longer believable.

Nothing is improving in fact it’s getting worse and no matter how many issues you bring up, they fall on deaf ears.

I do not think that unless some large fundamental changes take place, and soon, will the company survive. It cannot continue to operate the ways it’s operating-period.

My hope is now that management is truly detached from the reality facing them, the FAA steps in and stops this madness. It’s an accident waiting to happen. The entire airline is strained and it has to stop.
