Quote: Is it possible to be any more stupid than this? The OP is about the AVA/Hotel Standby agreement made by the Union (you hate) that actually got 150% pay via guaranteed AVA for ALL trips between Thanksgiving Day and New Years Eve. That's for everyone...not just those about to retire or over age 60.

But hey, lets take your idea and just limit the agreement to the day before and after plus the holiday. Great idea...you should go join the Sh*t for Brains Committee - I hear they are looking for a Chairperson.
Just to defend the poster a little... I believe the post was aiming for all trips flown on days that require a sick note be paid at overtime.

Let's see...

I was suggesting 150% for ALL holidays, plus a day on either side, that require a doctor's note. That would be for all trips, for all holidays, not just between Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Also, right now we only get paid for AVA during that period, I was suggesting we should get paid 150% percent for our normal line trips that touch a day either side of a holiday that requires a doctor's note. I have been told other airlines have it and it is called "Holiday pay". I think United has it.

Do you understand now? Or do I need to speak slower?

Also, there won't be any AVA available if people keep gobbling up the trips at straight pay, which seems to be happening, at least in my seat. If people can't wait until 7 days out to grab the trip, they don't get AVA. It appears we have lots of people who can't wait, and grab the trips at regular pay.

So, before you call somebody names, you should make sure you understand what they are proposing.

Also, if the union wants to give away my hard earned retirement, then I think I have the right to disagree and make my opinion known. They are counting on us being sheep, just like the last contract.

This is part of the reason I say there should be no limits on how much OT one can pick up. Because that restriction only affect about 70% if the crew who don’t have time in there MU Bank. The other 30% alway Chase OT and gobble it up. And yes I also have whole lot of time in my MU Bank but refuse to gobble crappy trips especially at straight pay.

I also think that anytime an operational emergency is in effect, every trip which touches that time frame should automatically be 200% for the entire trip.

That's another good idea. We should get something for sitting in the plane for 6 hours during a de-ice FUBAR.

I brought it up during the TA 2015, the union said the company will never go for that. When ask why did we agree to the new terms and conditions of the operational emergency, I was told the company need the flexibility.

The union needs to worry more about us and less about the company's needs for flexibility. We should have gotten something for the new terms. I wonder if we did?

Are the PROF trips AVA eligible, or does AVA only apply to EXTRA and OPEN?

Prof trips are not AVA, if it’s a MU, it comes out from you MU Bank. If it’s a TPU, you’re picking up at straight time.

Hey, I think Proffered trips should be AVA, we could give our trip trading buds a heads up and pick up each other's trips at time and a half. Nice!

Wondering if anyone has been denied AVA. I tried to do it once, fairly early in the morning and got disallowed because it was within the assignment window. Think they've been starting that assignment window earlier than normal. Almost nothing in open time until mid December, because even crappy trips are getting scooped up. Apparently we will do anything at straight pay.
