5.5 years, I am now 787 DFW. Just held it on bid from January, so just over 5 to hold. As a note, it all depends on what people put in their “preference bid”.
There are many people senior to me that can hold it, but didn’t have it in their preference bid and thus will not be awarded it unless they change their bid. That’s why even people junior to me, less than 5 years when awarded, hold 777 and 787. It’s a risk/reward call to bid it for junior pilots. I won’t be off reserve for years, but was still getting reserve on the BUS because of my base seniority from time to time based on days off in my PBS bid. Figured if I am going to get reserve, might as well have better pay, and based on open time, fly much less.
Now that being said, with a displacement bid, and one currently being processed, I can see many of the junior pilots, especially junior seniority, being displaced on this bid. However, they all, as very junior pilots in the pilot group, will get displacement rights and get back to the plane(s) before senior pilots to them with vacancies.
