Quote: Also it’s impressive that the whole discussion of what ails AA has been distilled down to whether or not we have an IFE system.
No one contends that lack of IFE (and apparently outlets) on brand new domestic aircraft is what is hurting AA's ability to get a revenue premium.....it's more of just indicative right when you walk on the airplane (which is the newest domestic fleet in the US and thus should draw the admiration of travelers) of the attitude of mgmt towards their pax, along with bathrooms that should be outlawed per the ADA.

Kind of like buying a brand new Corvette with manual windows and no AC.

Quote: I personally really enjoy the seatback tv. I don’t wanna hold my phone all flight and for me when I prop it or my iPad on the tray table looking down to watch it usually makes my neck start hurting. Also I enjoy being able to text and do other things on my phone while I’m watching something. While most people do have a personal device to watch stuff on, I don’t know that I’ve ever seen a family of 4 with 4 iPads...
This is exactly how I feel. It's all about brand perception and functionality. Holding my iPhone in front of my face for 2+ hours to watch a movie gets old very quickly. Yes, there are the certain planes that have the little holder built into the seatback, but they aren't always what I'd call secure. Also, as others have mentioned, propping up an electronic device in a seatback to watch a movie doesn't scream "high quality branding". It would also be nice to be able to use my phone for other tasks while I had a movie rolling. Bottom line, removing IFE and cramming extra rows of seats into our aircraft aren't the things that a legacy, premier carrier should be doing. There's reason AA is being compared to Spirit in many ways.

True. That is a four letter word.

Quote: What had "green" Christmas shown? If you motivate your employees, you can get problems solved and get things done. But this management hates their employees. Seems like an old AA, US, AWA tradition.

Bingo. No, no, and HeLL No

Crandall (and Con Carty, who was just below him) are the entire brain trust behind B scales and pitting everyone against each other.

Richard Anderson or Gordon Bethune, there’s a start.

You need to look at Anderson when he was at NWA.
Their mantra was, we aren't happy till your not happy.
