That’s a two way street. The bottom force the top. The top force the bottom. The basis for your statement is equally wrong in reverse.
Again, everyone has different circumstances. Everyone taking mandatory 50% pay-cuts does not afford anyone’s extreme situation any consideration (extremely good or bad). And remember that 50% pay-cut included benefit and healthcare reductions.
What was provided was the ability for people to choose. Those that have the means and desire to take leave this month and not the next. (Ie - 50% pay-cut) are able to do so. Or maybe they elect to take leave both months. And healthcare and benefits are preserved.
But for those of us who can’t afford it - how should it be decided who stays and who goes? This is a timeless question.
This is NOT just a choice for the top of the list. Those that are junior get to choose too.
Maybe everyone should make their first choice “COLA-leave” for April. Then what?
The option you promoted doesn’t give anyone a choice.
